Power Words For Ebay Sellers

Author: Dan Lim

Selling on ebay is basically the same as as other internet business. You still need to advertise your item.

In fact, it is considered as the lifeblood of almost all kinds of businesses. That's why sellers and entrepreneur wannabes on eBay understand the impact of an effective advertising technique on their items listing.

Basically, the sale of any item on eBay is dependent on eBay keyword program. This program asserts the fact that the probability of an item to be sold is based on the keyword used by the seller.

The eBay keyword program suggests that the maximum number of keywords to be used in an eBay ad is 100, the least is 50. This is because the essence of the description of the product or the ability of the ad to promote the item against a thousand similar items is lessened.

This does not necessarily mean that the sellers will also limit the amount of keywords that they will use. The eBay keyword program further suggests that the number of keywords should be congruent to the identity of the product. That is, it should be very specific even down to the last details of the product.

For example, one seller may make his or her descriptive title and ad using the word ""DVD movie"". Then, another seller posts the same item but used the words ""sci-fi DVD movie"". And lastly, another seller does the same but used the words ""Starship Troopers DVD"". Applying the keyword principle, the third seller will most likely gain more exposure than the other two, such that when a person search for starship troopers DVD, that person will most likely be lead to the third seller's listing.

Choosing the best category for the product is another effective advertising technique.

There are those online shoppers who search items on the category first. The reason behind this is that they don't have any specific product in mind. For example, a buyer may be looking for a DVD but doesn't know what are the DVD movies he/she wants. So, it's a must that the seller places his or her item in a category that is active or is frequented by most buyers.

So how do you know which categories are active? One easy way is to look at the number of listings in that category. Generally, anything less than 1000 means there are not many visitors to that category.

You can use attention grabbing power words such as STOP, WOW, YOU etc. Such power words have been used in the offline world for decades. Look around you, check out that ad on TV, on newspaper, on magazines. Learn and see what words grab your attention.

8 Imaging mistakes to avoid when uploading your Ebay auction photo

Author: Jason James

It is no secret that having professional looking photos that are upscale in quality will help create more Ebay auction sales and attract higher bid buyers. Each and every product that you sell on Ebay, even it you are promoting a service, should have a photo cropped and fit to please the eye.

As much of a positive impact that a decent photo has on your business, the exact opposite will come into effect if you display a distasteful photo of poor quality on your auction. Even if your product is sound and your service is top notch this still may never matter if your Ebay photo creates an illusion of poor quality in the buyers eyes.

In order create good Ebay product photos then be sure to stay clear from these common mistakes that are made my Ebay sellers when creating their digital photo for the auction:

1. Glare: Along the lines of poor lighting, glare is the result of improper flash usage. Try not to take your pictures head on when wanting beautiful photos for your Ebay auction. Try instead to shoot the product from an angle. Such angles are from the left, from the right, or even from the top of the project. Coming from an under angle also works for photos for your Ebay auctions.

2. Cropping: Have you seen those Ebay auction pictures that have the item in the middle of all of the background distractions? Now that is very annoying to those viewing your Ebay auction. You should crop everything that you take a photo for. Nobody wants to see your messy bedroom or the garage where you took the picture at and it may detour many from looking further into your Ebay auction. Keep all distractions out of your Ebay photo by cropping everything but the product. Trust me, your Ebay auction will thank you for it in sales.

3. Background: Having a fancy background like countertop designs or table garnishes only distract from your Ebay auction product. Sure this may seem like something pleasant to do but this mistake is very similar to not cropping properly in that it may make your Ebay auction customer loose focus on what you are selling.

4. Fuzzy images: If your Ebay auction images are fuzzy and blurry to view then all you are telling the customer is that you do not have any consideration for detail and quality. This lack of preparation with your Ebay photos will give the customer a perception that you may just treat your products and customer service with the same lack of attention. You have one chance with your Ebay auction so be sure to check the focus before you snap the photo and use a tripod if necessary to avoid blur.

5. Lighting quality: Do not deplete the value of your Ebay auction by having dim lighting for your product photo. On the other hand, too much lighting can also create a very bad picture in the customers mind as they are viewing your Ebay auction. You should take several snapshots of the product to view each photo for lighting problems. Then begin your cropping.

6. Close up shots: There are some Ebay auction items that are so small and need a closer look by the customer. Do you have these close up photos in your Ebay auction? I strongly suggest that you do not make the mistake of selling something like jewelry but not including up close photos. Your camera should have a zoom feature which can take very close shots of the item with total accuracy.

7. Avoid reflective surfaces: This mistake that happens to many Ebay auction photos falls into the categories of poor lighting and blurry images. Light issues can really make or break your Ebay sales if not attended to and reflective light can do the same damage. Be sure to remove any shiny objects from the background from the site where you are taking your Ebay Auction photo to avoid this distraction.

8. Confusing combo shots: Do not take pictures and post multiple items within the same block that your main item is for sale is located. This will create confusion from the buyer and will prevent your Ebay auction from making the sales that you want. Customers have one thing in mind and the only product that you should be posting is of a picture of the main single item.

12 Items You CAN'T Sell On eBay

Author: Sydney Johnston

Millions of would-be entrepreneurs want to sell things on ebay. eBay is the #1 home-business opportunity in the world right now, so it's natural that many are eager to find highly profitable items for re-sale on eBay. However, it's important to know that there are certain items that can't be sold. Here are a dozen of them ...

Some items are copyright infringement and can actually land a seller in federal prison:

1. Knock offs of music, TV shows or movies. The ""bootleg"" movies, for example, are often made by guys who sneak a movie camera into a newly-released movie where presumably, they crouch behind a seat and make a crummy copy. There is a large production of these counterfeit items in Asia where US laws have no power.

2. Software and computer games can likewise be copied and their sale is illegal by all US laws.

Naturally, the items above may be sold if you have a copy that you purchased legitimately and no longer want.

3, The so-called ""replica"" market for handbags, designer sunglasses and clothing is definitely forbidden although these items are often sold in physical stores around the US. Ironically, when attending eBay Live In New Orleans in 2004, we found a store in one of their famous markets selling replica purses that were not allowed on eBay.

4. Lazy and less-than-honest sellers often steal copyrighted material from other sellers. This has happened to me many times and eBay has a program called VERO (Verified Rights Owner) that will remove offending auctions, although there seems to be no penalty attached to the seller, which is unfortunate.

5. Alcoholic beverage sales are not allowed although a beverage ""container', especially those of wine, may be sold for its value.

6. Cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco or coupons for such items are not permitted on eBay.com.

The Ebay rules for collectible tobacco and alcohol containers are the same:

* The value of the item is in the collectible packaging, not in the wine/tobacco itself.

* The listing description should state that the package has not been opened, but that the twine/tobacco within is not for consumption.

* The collectible tobacco packaging must not be available at any retail outlet, and packaging must have a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of that wine/tobacco product in the package.

* Sellers must take steps to ensure that the buyer of these collectibles is at least 18 years of age.

7. Firearms are strictly regulated by US law and may not be sold on eBay.

8. Satellite and cable TV descramblers are forbidden by the Federal Trade Commission.

9. Animals and wildlife products may not be sold, which includes stuffed birds and pelts from endangered species. There are limited sales of ivory, tortoise shell, marine products and other items relating to animals. This area is quite complex and any would-be seller needs to thoroughly understand the various laws before getting involved in these sales.

10. Event tickets have state-by-state laws that make their sale complex. Some states, for instance, forbid anyone to make more than a few dollars in profit (or no profit at all) on the resale of tickets. For instance, Florida law states that tickets can be resold at no more than face value plus $1. In such states, these regulations apply only to buyers and sellers located in the same state as the actual event, meaning if a seller lives in Florida, he can't profit from ticket sales to Florida events. However, if he lives in any of the other 39 states, this restriction doesn't apply.

11. Listing a catalog of items that a seller offers for sale is forbidden. The only catalogs legally sold on eBay are collectible kinds, such as an old Sears Roebuck or Montgomery Wards catalog that is memorabilia and doesn't offer current merchandise for sale.

12. Raffles and prizes are 100% prohibited. According to eBay, such promotions are highly regulated and may be unlawful in many states.

There are other kinds of merchandise that a seller may not sell on eBay, so carefully check eBay rules before listing anything. It's much better to know the rules in advance of spending money that can't be recouped.

Ebay Selling Can Net You Serious Part-Time Income

Author: Jason James

No one really knows just how big this Ebay business could actually become because it continues to grow at a mind boggling rate with no apparent end in sight. Over a billion dollars of merchandise is sold every month and that figure just continues to grow. While you might not be interesting in using online auctions to provide your sole source of income, you may want to consider Ebay selling as means of creating viable part-time income that can really add up over the course of a year.

Endless Possibilities

While Ebay continues to diversify its services and allow customers more and more options, online auctions remain the heart and soul of their business. If you are just interested in using Ebay selling to generate part-time income without the hassles of working for other people, then Ebay auctions are for you.

One of the reasons why Ebay is such a popular means of generating part-time income for so many people is because it takes so little investment and time to get started. If you have a computer and Internet access along with either a digital camera or access to a picture of the item you are selling-well, you basically have all you need to get started!

Of course you will also need to register with Ebay before the fun begins. For this all you really need is a checking account, a credit card, and a few minutes to sign-up. It is not impossible to register on Monday and begin selling items on Tuesday. Really, it is just that simple!

To begin with and for a better idea of how to navigate and use the site, most people opt to search their homes for things to list on Ebay auctions. Frankly, the sky is basically the limit with respect to what you can choose to list because Ebay selling is a pretty wide open field. Of course, Ebay does ban some items from being sold so be sure check out their website for a listing of unacceptable items.

For people who love to go antiquing and spend their weekends scouring flea markets for the best deals, making substantial part-time income is no problem at all. This is especially true for people who really know how to spot a quality item at a great price. It is nothing to buy something on a weekend and turn around and sell it for double the price they paid for it (or more!).

If you are creative and like crafts or painting pictures, Ebay selling can be a great way to get started in a field you have always dreamed of working in while making money in the process. An Ebay store can be an excellent way to turn your hobbies and passions into cold hard cash and perhaps even build your reputation.

Honestly, the list of possibilities could literally go on forever it seems because Ebay auctions offer people the chance to earn part-time income in any number of ways. The start up costs are minimal and so are the risks. Just be sure to use accurate descriptions and answer all questions promptly and your part-time income potential is limitless with Ebay auctions!

3 Dropshipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay

Author: Jason James

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special ""sales flyer"" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

The Basics of How To Sell on Ebay

Author: Jason James

The star that is Ebay continues to rise with its ultimate height and potential reach still unknown. What is known is that over $14 billion dollars worth of merchandise changed hands last year with more expected this year. More and more people are joining in the Ebay craze in hopes of making huge profits working for themselves. Learning the basics of how to sell on Ebay is simple and just about anyone can profit from the miracle of online auctions.

Getting Started

With millions of visitors every month, the Ebay business machine continues to be an incredible opportunity for people to go into business for themselves and succeed with very little start up capital. Essentially, all anyone needs to start selling items using their own Ebay business are: a computer with Internet access, a digital camera, and...well, something to sell!

Learning how to sell on Ebay begins with familiarizing yourself with the site by actually getting your feet wet and selling something. To do this, you will first have to register with Ebay. You will need a credit card, a checking account, and a few minutes to do this.

Listing Your Wares

Most people begin their Ebay business slowly by first selling items around the house. Once you have scoured your home in search of antiques, collectibles, or even clothing that you are no longer interested in or just want to sell, you have to list your item because online auctions just would not be as interesting without something for people to bid on!

In order to do this, you will need a product description and a photo of the item(s) being sold. This description needs to be accurate while still casting your product in the best light possible. Misrepresenting your item can cut your Ebay business experience short because customer feedback is listed for all to see. One or two really scathing reviews, especially in the beginning, can kill your chances of selling things on Ebay auctions in the future.

You are also going to need a picture of your item because this will be the only way for a potential buyer to have an idea about what they are bidding on other than your description. Be sure to capture the true essence of the item with this picture because you will get negative feedback for sure if people think they were conned by some slickster with a digital camera taking pictures that do not really represent the item being sold.

Monitor Bidding

Obviously, learning how to sell on Ebay means mastering the bidding process itself. You will need to determine whether or not to set a minimum bid amount or even to opt for something like the ""Buy Now"" option which allows people to buy an item at a listed price without going through the bidding process.

Regardless of what option you choose when auction selling, you will have to be available for questions that customers have about your item. Respond to these as quickly as possible and try to provide the most useful information you can while still answering their questions.

Conclude Transaction

After the bidding has ended it is time to collect your money and ship the item to the customer. Be sure to have posted sales policies and payment options so that customers know what they are getting into when bidding on your items. People are naturally a little skeptical of online auctions anyway because they are bidding on something that they cannot see or touch. You do not want to surprise them with high shipping costs or complicated payment options.

You may want to include a little note or even a flyer about your business to help cultivate good will with the buyer. Remember, positive feedback is critical to the success of any Ebay business and yours will be no exception. Once you run of out things to sell from your own household, it is time to take your Ebay store to the next level by locating more items to sell so you can keep those profits rolling in!

Keeping records of your Ebay business: Part 4

Author: Jason James

The base for any business to survive over the long term, especially an ebay powerseller business, is to keep accurate detailed records of everything pertaining to your ebay records. In our recent articles of parts one through three, we touched up on the basics of your financial records and how to start a paper-trail system of your ebay powerseller business that is both accurate for your personal books and for the IRS at tax time.

In today's article you will learn the importance of tracking your ebay business inventory and how to sell from that inventory, whether as FIFO or LIFO. Running an ebay powerseller business means that you are reaching a great point of success with your business and in order to stay successful you will need to account for your inventory meticulously.

You will need to know exactly what is on hand to sell to your ebay customers and also when you will need to replenish that inventory to replace the sold items. Unless your ebay powerseller business revolves around providing digital products (any product that is delivered via email or downloaded like an E-book), then stocking your items and tracking them is of utmost importance.

How to figure out your ebay powerseller business inventory

Technically speaking, ""inventory"" refers to any merchandise that you hold in your home office or your business office that are for sale to your customers. Not only does this include items that you have on hand to sell to your customers but it also includes any supplies that will become part of the item. For example, if you are selling electronic equipment then any spare parts like speakers, knobs, wires, etc. are part of your inventory list.

How to report your inventory at the end of the year for taxes

When it comes time for you to report your income for the tax man, you do not report your ebay powerseller items separately. Instead, everything within your ebay stock should be lumped together under the umbrella of ""inventory"".

In order to know what income to report, you should have recorded what your ebay inventory was at the beginning of the work year. This is called ""opening inventory"". Next, you will need to have accurate records of what items that you bought during the year and added to your ebay powerseller inventory. And of course, your ""closing inventory"" is what is left at the end of the year.

Now that you have all three of the above categories accurately recorded then you will be able to arrive at one key number. This is called ""your cost of goods sold"". And this number enables you to figure what you made on your sales for the year when submitting this information in for tax purposes.

Understanding LIFO and FIFO

What do these two terms have to do with keeping records and tracking inventory? Let's start with FIFO. This means ""first in - first out"". In other words, let's say that that you resell books as an ebay powerseller. In January, you purchased a set of wholesale books that cost you $3.00 each. Then in May you purchased another set of books to resell that cost you $5.00 each. If you sold all of the books from the first set before selling the second set, then those were ""first in and first out"" (FIFO).

Next we have the term LIFO and this stands for ""last in - first out"". With LIFO, you would sell all of your ebay powerseller book items from the last stock purchase you made, before you resell the first batch.

Which is best for your ebay powerseller business? That is up to you. The one you select will invariably affect your cost of goods sold, which, in turn, will affect your profit for the year. The method you choose will depend on the trend in prices. Simply choose a method that you can live with for years to come and one that fits within the IRS regulations.

When prices are rising, then using LIFO will result in a larger cost of goods sold so that closing inventory will be higher and your reportable profits will be lower. But when prices fall, the opposite result occurs - you'll wind up paying more taxes with LIFO than if you'd used FIFO.

A Searching Lesson - Take advantage of eBay's searching

Author: Brian McGregor

76 million times each day, members use eBay's search box when they're looking for items that are of interest to them.

It occurred to me that very few of these members would know how eBay's search worked. Put another way, knowing how eBay's search system operates might help you in finding bargains.

For a start, words keyed into the standard search box are only matched against auction titles, and not against the contents of auction descriptions.

eBay's searching defaults to an ""all present"" style of search. This means if you key in two words such as 'finding nemo', the search will return auctions where the title contains both words in any order. It won't bring back auctions if the auction title contains only one of the words.

If you want to do a search of an ""either or"" style, you place parentheses around the words and separate them with a comma and no spaces. So, if you key in (finding, nemo) your search will return auctions with either finding or nemo in the auction title.

Of course, with the finding nemo example, what you really want to do is find auctions where finding nemo occurs as a phrase. To do this, you place quotation marks before and after. So, if you key in ""finding nemo"" your search will return auctions where the titles contain the exact phrase finding nemo.

If you're not sure of the spelling of a particular word, or if the word you want to search on is a preface with several endings, you can use an asterisk as a ""wild card"". For example if you're interested in a Vuitton handbag, some sellers misspell vuitton or type it in incorrectly. You could search on vui*, and this will bring back auctions with vuitton or vuiton in the title, or indeed vui followed by any other combination of letters.

These are probably the main search weapons you need to save you time, and to help you home in on the items you want to find. If you wish to explore eBay searching in even more depth, you will find a very useful description of the process here:

How to Make Money Fast on eBay

Author: Brian McGregor

I guess you might have seen those adverts where people offer to show you how to make oodles of money online. I know I have.

You might have tried things yourself, but not yet come up with a solution that works for you.

Well, here is a formula to make some quick money online. It may not be a fortune, but it costs you nothing and it should help to pay the bills.

In brief, with this formula you'll be finding out the most popular searches being made on Google. Then you'll generate a short report on that subject. And then you'll sell the report on eBay - hopefully many times over.

Here's the formula:

1. Visit http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html and see what are the hot searches at this moment in time.

2. Select one of them, ideally one in which you are interested or at least curious about.

3. Research that topic online, and gather information on the subject. This will be the basis for your e-report. What you need to do is develop something which will be wanted by people searching for this topic. (Some examples are shown later)

4. List your e-report on eBay. And keep re-listing it as long as it is selling.

5. Do it again, with another subject.

What you're doing here is riding on the crest of a wave of public interest, and this is a tried and tested way of making money!

I know of one person who produced a report with questions and answers about the film, ""The Passion of the Christ"". The report came out around Easter to coincide with the launch of the movie when there was a frenzy of interest in it and in Mel Gibson.

Another timely report was produced based on the Donald Trump TV program ""The Apprentice"". It was called ""You're fired!"", and did great business especially when the program became highly popular.

A top 10 gainer this week on Google Zeitgeist is Emma Watson. For the oldies amongst us, Emma is a star of Harry Potter films. You could compile a directory of the main websites showing pictures of her. Or you could create an Emma Watson cookbook, beauty tips, joke book or anything else depending on what your web searching turns up. Or you could be contentious, and produce a report on ""Why I Hate Emma Watson!"".

I hope you get the idea.

Your report can simply be a Word document, which you attach to an email to your eBay buyers.

Now I know that not everyone reading this will act on the idea. But those who do have a good chance of making some quick eBay money!

How to Legally Sell an Affiliate Product on eBay

Author: Brian McGregor

If you're involved as an affiliate for any product, you've probably wrestled with how you can sell the product on eBay.

After all, eBay offers you a massive potential audience of 168 million members. And people who read about your product will likely have found it by searching, thus saying they are interested in the product area in which your product resides.

The bad news, however, is that there is no easy way to market affiliate products on eBay!

First of all, if you haven't heard of affiliate selling, here's a very quick description of how it works.

Fundamentally, selling an affiliate product requires that you get interested buyers to click on a special link. This link takes the person to the product owner's sales page. More importantly, the link also contains your unique affiliate code. It is this code which ensures that sales made from your introductions are recorded in your affiliate account. Finally, if your prospect purchases the product, it is the owner who handles product delivery and who also pays you your sales commission payment.

On eBay, you could easily set up an auction saying how marvelous your affiliate product is. You will certainly attract a number of people who would be interested in buying. The problem is, you have no legitimate way of selling it to eBay members!

This is because it's against eBay's rules to have a link in your auction page which takes your readers away to another website to make a sale. So, you can't just create a sales page with your affiliate link.

Also, if you think about it, you don't even have the affiliate product to deliver. There's no mechanism for you to make the sale on eBay, and deliver the product. If you recall, this is handled automatically by the product owner.

So here are two ways in which you can tap into the eBay market with your affiliate products.

1. The Simple System

You create an auction which explains the benefits of the affiliate product you're promoting. This would be the normal sales page for the product you're promoting.

But what do you offer on your eBay auction?

What you sell is the information on where to get hold of this superb product. And you ""sell"" this knowledge for just one penny.

Whenever someone ""buys"" your information, you send them an email saying thank you for your purchase. You then explain they don't really need to send you a penny, and you give them the link to the fantastic product in which they've expressed an interest.

Of course, the link is YOUR affiliate link.

By the way, in your auction description page please think of a new angle for the product. You'll find almost everybody who is an affiliate for any popular product will be using the suggested sales material supplied by the product owner.

If you use the standard sales pitch, you will just appear to be one of many. Your interested purchaser has probably seen some of these already. Why should they take notice of you?

Lace your auction description with personal and credible information about the product, and you will get some of those prospective buyers to go with you.

Incidentally, you could find that your one penny auctions are removed by eBay. After all, a one penny auction doesn't bring eBay very much by way of listing or final value fee.

If this happens to you, you could try system 2 below, and you can also place your one penny auction on other auction sites such as Yahoo, Amazon, QXL etc

2. The Not as Simple System

With this system, you need to do a little research before you launch your eBay auction for your affiliate product.

The objective here is to create a package of items which are related to your affiliate products, and which you auction at 99 cents or 99 pence.

First off, you need to create a 2 or 3 page report about your affiliate product. Ideally this should be based on your personal experience with the product. Failing that, it should be written in your own personal style. The key points are that these are your own words, and the report includes your affiliate link to the product.

The next step is to find other items for your ""package"". You do this by using Google search to locate related free products.

Let's suppose you're an affiliate for an ebook which teaches how to paint and draw figures. On Google you would search for something like - figure drawing free.

It took me under 10 minutes to locate the following freebies:

Photographing Your Artwork (free ebook) 3D Figure Drawing Studio software (free trial) How to Sell Your Art (free newsletter)

And there are many more you could unearth given a little more research time. Be a little careful in your selection - you don't want to give away something which will compete with your affiliate ebook.

Having found your items, what you now do is bundle them up and add them to your 2/3 page report. You then create an auction which offers the whole package for 99 cents or pence.

There's no way eBay can possibly object to this auction.

As you can see, all it really takes to get your affiliate product in front of eBay's massive market place is a little creativity.

How to Make Money on ebay Auctions

Author: Jason James

""Going once, going twice..."", that is usually the phrase associated to the traditional practice of auctioning. This has indeed changed with the advent of the internet particularly the emergence of the ebay explosion. Ebay made auctioning a modernized one and the benefits are enormous. This is a guide on how to make money on ebay auctions.

a. Presentation counts a lot.

If you would like to make money on ebay through auctions, you should be able to devise a way to make your products more presentable to your target customers or market. In this case, presentation is everything because people are not likely to pay a high amount for something that looks like it is low in quality. Human nature dictates the habit of judging things by the way they look, thus one should exert efforts in making his or her products as enticing as possible.

b. Categorically speaking.

It is a must to position your product in the right category to make your product more visible. If it is somewhere it should really not be, chances are it will not gain the proper attention it deserves from auctions enthusiasts.

Make use of the category guide provided by ebay to help you on this matter. Also, the proper title for your item should be given major consideration since this is what buyers will be keying in if they would not want to go through the tedious task of rummaging through hundreds of categories.

c. Proper Advertisement

Advertisement is essential in any business and apparently this particularly applies to eBay auctions too. In advertising your item, its description should be given ample consideration. Too lengthy and it gets too boring. Too short and it will look not so well thought of. Being truthful with your item's description will prove to be one of the best way to do it. A picture of the item you are selling will also do great in making your product attract more traffic. Practice on producing good shots of your item to make more people appreciate the effort you put in advertising your product.

d. Starting Price Schemes

You can use various methods in pricing your item to make buyers to look at the auction.

Depending on your item, you can either price it low and wait for it to be bid up to your expected level. Ebay offers fixed pricing as an alternative. If you prefer a method wherein you will determine a certain minimum price or a reserve price you just have to be ready for the limited traffic and the extra amount you have to pay for your auction to be listed.

e. Payment Methods

If you limit your payment method to only one, say Paypal, it will lose the chance to be considered by other buyers who can afford to bid and pay using other payment methods. If you are planning to do this for a long haul, including other payment method options will help you do better in auctioning off your products.

These are only a few of the fool-proof ways to capture the attention of buyers and eventually convert them to sales. It is still important that you keep yourself updated with the other methods that other ebay sellers are employing for their auctions to do well.

E-Bay ... A Beginner's Guide to the Different eBay Auction Types.

Author: Scott Zappo

A Beginner's Guide to the Different eBay Auction Types.

Over the years, eBay has introduced all sorts of different auction types, in an effort to give people more options when they buy and sell their things on eBay.

For every seller who doesn't like the idea that their item might sell for a far lower price than they intend, there's another who wants to shift hundreds of the same item quickly. eBay tries to cater to all tastes. This email gives you an overview of the different kinds of auctions and their advantages for you.

Normal Auctions.

These are the bread-and-butter of eBay, the auctions everyone knows: buyers bid, others outbid them, they bid again, and the winner gets the item. Simple.

Reserve Auctions.

Reserve auctions are for sellers who don't want their items to sell for less than a certain price - a concept you'll know about if you're familiar with real auctions. They work just like normal auctions on eBay, except that the buyer will be told if their bid does not meet the reserve price you set, and they'll need to bid again if they want the item. If no-one is willing to meet your price, then the auction is cancelled, and you keep the item.

Fixed Price ('Buy it Now') Auctions.

Buy it Now auctions can work in one of two ways. You can add a Buy it Now button to a normal auction, meaning that buyers can choose either to bid normally or to simply pay the asking price and avoid the whole bidding process. Some sellers, though, now cut out the auction process altogether and simply list all their items at fixed price. This lets you avoid all the complications of the auction format and simply list your items for how much you want them to sell for.

Recently, eBay added a twist to fixed price auctions: the 'best offer'. This means that buyers can contact you to negotiate a price, which could be a good way to get sell some extra stock at a small discount. The only downside to reserve and fixed price auctions is that you pay a small extra fee to use these formats. In general, it is more worth using reserve auctions for higher-priced items and fixed price auctions for lower-priced ones - but remember that you can combine the two formats.

Multiple Item ('Dutch') Auctions.

These are auctions where you can sell more than one of a certain item. Dutch auctions can be done by bidding. Buyers bid a price and say how many items they want, and then everyone pays the lowest price that was bid by one of the winning bidders. If you have trouble getting your head around that, then don't worry - everyone else does too! These auctions are very rare.

What is more common is when a seller has a lot of one item, and lists it using a combination of two auction types: a multiple-item fixed price auction. This just means that you can just say how many of the item you they have, and offer them at a fixed price per unit. Buyers can enter how many they want and then just click Buy it Now to get them.

Now that you know about the different types of auctions, you should make sure that the items you plan to sell don't violate eBay's listing policies. The next email will let you know what's allowed and what is a big no-no.

Turn Your Ebay About Me Page Into A Cash Cow.

Author: Dave Bromley

If eBay's figures are to believed only 6% of eBay sellers use the About Me page facility. If anyone doubts the effectiveness of an About Me page it is worth noting that over 30% of Power Sellers have one.

There are three ways that any seller can benefit from using this facility. First of all it is the only place on eBay where a seller can advertise theirs or anyone else's web site. This can be a powerful way of directing traffic to your site, especially if your site is related to the niche or group of products that you are selling on eBay.

Even if you do not have a web site of your own you can generate income by directing visitors to an affiliate program that you have signed up for. You can actually place up to 3 links on your page so you could have one pointing towards your own web site and the other two to affiliate programs.

As well as providing links the main purpose of an About Me page is for you to tell potential bidders something about yourself and your business. It is a fact that most people prefer doing business with someone they know rather than a faceless stranger. The About Me page gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself and you can even include photographs of yourself and your family.

You can also add either a complete list of the other items you have for sale on eBay or a list of your recent feedbacks and comments. These can help to inspire confidence, in bidders. If you do not already have an About Me page then you really should start thinking about getting one. There is no reason why you should not, eBay provide a very simple step-by-step tool to build your page. It's easy there are no technical skills required. All you have to do is select a layout, add your information and then preview and save your page. When you're finished, eBay will send you the Web site address (URL) to share with your friends.

Once you have built your and uploaded your page eBay will place an ""me"" icon next to your ID. However, do not just rely on this alone to get visitors to your About Me page. You should include a mention or link to your About Me page in all your listings. A sentence such as ""To find out more about this seller visit their About Me page"" or if you are familiar with HTML you could add an actual Click Here link.

If you are one of the 94% of sellers who are not currently using this free facility you are missing a golden opportunity to boost your online income. Don't waste nay more time, go and check it out now.

Killer eBay Selling Tips, Part I

Author: Edwin Felix

eBay Selling tip #0: Never get eBay tips from people who spell eBay wrong. If someone recommends some ""EBay Selling Tip"", or ""Ebay Selling Tip"", it's probably garbage.

eBay Selling tip #1: Charge a handling fee. This tip seems quite obvious, but many newbies don't realize this: An item that sells for $10 + a $5 shipping fee and an item that sells for $5 + a $10 shipping and handling fee both mean $15 to the customer. But you paid less eBay fee for the latter. This is NOT dishonesty, because you DESERVE to be paid for handling the product. Note: A Shipping and Handling fee that's TOO high will make you look greedy, and people won't buy the item.

eBay Selling tip #2: Have a good ending time. You can care less if your target bidder is the whole world. But if your target is your own country, consider this: Many bidders view/bid on an item within the last hour of the ending time, so if an auction ends at 5:00am, this item is !#$@ed. For UK people, some time between 9-12 pm is good. For US people, some time around 8 Pacific (12 Eastern) is good, don't let it be too early or too late, because people live in very different time zones. Note: again, use with caution, you should understand that when many sellers are using this strategy, they'll end up selling similar items at the same time, and their items are still !#$@ed.

More tips to come.

The 5 Mistakes that lose you money on eBay

Author: by Dave Bromley

I am often asked by subscribers to UK Auctionline web site to have a look at their eBay listings. This is usually because they are not doing as well selling their items as they had hoped. When I go and look at the listing I will often find that they have made one or more of the common mistakes that deter bidders.

1. Too many negatives. Some people, especially newcomers to eBay have a very real fear of being cheated or ripped off. Because of this they apply negatives in their listing. This can be in the form of a long list of types of payments they wont accept or conditions that they apply. Something else I have seen is the warning that thee seller will not be responsible for any item lost in the post. Even worse are threats such as negative feedback if payment is not made within a certain time after the auction ended. These sorts of restrictions and threats are a great big turnover to any potential bidder.

2. High shipping charges. Most reasonable people are happy to pay something over the cost of postage to cover packing materials. But as I saw the other day someone who charging $10 to ship a $4.99CD, that is pushing it a bit. If you doubt the effect of high shipping costs just go and read any ebay forum and see what buyers feel about it.

3. Not using a Gallery Photograph. I assume that no one who is serious about selling on eBay would consider putting up any listing without a picture. I cannot think of any item that would not benefit from a photograph. But there are still a great number of sellers who do not use the gallery feature to have a photograph next to their listing in the search results. Ebay's own figures show that the use of a gallery photograph can increase the final bid figure by as much as 12%.

4. Setting you opening bid price too high. If you want to attract the most bids and therefore a higher final price for your item you should not set too high an opening bid price. A low opening price attracts casual browsers who place a bid just on the off chance of getting a bargain. Once a few bids have been entered other people start noticing and come to your listing to see what it is all about. Hen before you know it the price is shooting up. However, if you start with too high a price you could end up as one of the many listings that attract no bids at all.

5. Not communicating. I know some eBay sellers who really resent having to answer e-mails. In fact I know some who just do not answer any questions from sellers. How stupid is this? A question from a seller is a great opportunity for you to build up rapport with a potential buyer. A quick and pleasant response will almost certainly encourage bids whilst a curt or a non-reply will not.

The bottom line is that eBay is a numbers game, the more people you can get to bid on your items the higher the price they will achieve. Therefore it is important to do everything you can to encourage bidding not trying to deter it.

The Best Products To Sell On eBay

Author: Jennifer Clason

If you're considering starting an online storefront by selling on eBay, you might wonder what products to offer in your auctions. Don't rush into this decision, think carefully before you decide on what to sell. If you make a rush decision, you might end up with something that nobody will buy or perhaps the market is oversaturated with the items you chose.

Do some research on eBay and see how many other listings for your item(s) are appearing. It always pays to know how much competition you have. Also see what the items are going for by looking at the ""completed auctions"", see which ones sell better than others, and see if you'll be able to turn a profit by selling your choice of products.

However these are some handy rules of thumb when choosing items to sell on eBay.

1. Don't sell ""high demand"" gadgets. I know this sounds wacky but think about it: If you decide you're going to sell MP3 players, your competition will be companies like Apple, Samsung, Creative, and Rio. These are big companies and you just can't compete with them. Even companies like Hewlett Packard and Microsoft run auctions on eBay to sell overstock, how can you compete with these big guys?

2. Sell consumable goods. Consumable goods are things that people need, use up, and will come back for more. An example of some consumable goods is computer paper, ink jet cartridges, and even housewares like candles. The next time they buy they might even come to you directly off eBay and that will help you reduce listing fees.

3. Sell collectibles and rarities. When someone is looking for something that you can't get just anywhere, they always think of looking for it on eBay. Rare and hard to find items have less competition and people are always looking for collectibles to complete their collections or for sentimental value..

4. Sell your knowledge. Another great item to sell on eBay is your knowledge or expertise. Create a PDF about ""how to make money"" or ""how to bake a cake"" and people will bid on the items for the information.

These are just a few examples of products that you should choose in order to have a successful eBay storefront. Just keep in mind that the less competition that you have, the better. However make sure there is sufficient demand for your products so that you can make a decent profit off of your venture!

Do not Frighten Your Ebay Customers Away

Author: Dave Bromley

There can be very few people in the English Speaking world who have not heard about eBay. The online auction site has grown at a phenomenal rate since its launch ten years ago. It now provides an opportunity for millions of people around the world to buy and sell goods on the Internet. As a result hundreds of thousands of people rely on eBay as their main source of income.

However, for every person who has built up a successful business buying and selling on eBay there will be at least two others who have failed to make it. There can be several reasons for this and amongst the most common are using poor titles and giving an inadequate or insufficient descriptions for their items. Another common reason is the fact sellers set too high a starting or ""Buy It Now"" price.

There is one factor that can seriously affect your chances of being successful and that is by simply frightening would be buyers from making a bid. How would you feel if you saw something like:

""All bids are final, payment is expected within three days of the end of the auction. Failure to pay in time will lead to negative feedback.""

It is not uncommon to see such comments where the seller threatens negative feedback before anyone has made a bid.

This is hardly the way to start trying to build up a trusting relationship with your customers. You do not have to spend very much time searching eBay to find plenty of examples of this kind of threatening approach.

A further way to frighten off a potential buyer is something as simple as having the wrong User ID. I may seem very funny and a great idea to have an identity such as ""Slippery Trader"" or Rip U Off"" but what kind of impression of you do you think this will give. There are two money saving tactics that some sellers use that frighten away bidders. The first is to refuse to accept a Paypal payment, (to save their charges) or to sell at a low price but with high postage rates (to save on the listing fee). Most buyers these days prefer to use Paypal and by refusing to accept you will get considerably less bids than you might otherwise. Many eBay buyers feel very strongly about excessive postal charges and these will effect the number of bids your listing will receive. Another way of frightening bidder away is to reply aggressively to any e-mail questions sent by potential bidders or even worse not replying at all. Selling is all about communicating and creating a rapport one big issue both parties. This will not happen if your replies are rude or non-existent.

There was the instance of a seller in response to the question, ""What color is the item"", received the reply, ""Blue, it said so in the listing. What is wrong with you Dumbo, can't you read or something?"" Needless to say the sale was not made.

Finally, all transactions have to be based on mutual trust. There will be the odd occasion when this trust is misplaced but these are the exceptions rather than the rule. There are safeguards and procedures in place to protect both buyers and sellers.

By placing obstacles in the way of bidders you may ensure that you are never cheated or let down. Unfortunately it will also mean that you never realise the profits that you could be making on eBay.

How To Use Feedback On Ebay

Author: Jason James

As an Internet savvy ebay business owner, you have undoubtedly had a friend or family member come to you at some point to ask whether or not it was okay to purchase from a certain Internet business. You might have found this humorous. As someone who regularly makes sales and payments online, you aren't even remotely afraid of being scammed. If something is a scam, you can spot it from a mile away.

However, to people who are considerably less experienced-- perhaps members of your family or your friends--this is a serious obstacle to shopping online regularly. They will probably think twice and consult a friend before buying anything.

This is why ebay's feedback system must be a crucial part of your strategy as an ebay seller: it gives people the unique opportunity to hear what ebay buyers had to say about your products and service.

If potential customers see anything sketchy, you can bet they will hit the 'back' button and shop somewhere else.

On the contrary, if they see dozens of positive responses from your customers, you will immediately gain their trust as a professional ebay seller.

Luckily for you, keeping your feedback record positive is relatively easy if you adhere to the following rules:

1. Avoid posting negative feedback at all costs.

If you encounter a negligent buyer, do everything in your power before leaving negative feedback. Most disputes on ebay revolve around miscommunication, so make an effort to resolve communicate clearly with the buyer. Even if they still wont respond positively, you are better off leaving no feedback at all than leaving negative feedback, which can prompt retaliatory negative feedback.

2. Create feedback rules (written or unwritten) and follow them consistently.

Many ebay sellers have a written feedback policy. They will only leave feedback after the buyer pays and leaves feedback. If a buyer knows upfront that he has to leave feedback to get feedback, he will be more likely to give you feedback after the transaction (provided he cares about his feedback rating).

Not only will this get you more responses, but it will give you more control over feedback. If the buyer gives you negative feedback, you can use your future feedback opportunity to bargain a withdrawal. Some ebay sellers use an unwritten policy. As soon as payment clears, they respond with positive feedback. When the customer sees positive feedback from the seller, they have a higher chance of posting positive feedback in response, even if they haven't received the item yet.

3. Communicate clearly with the buyer.

As I mentioned above, the majority of problems on ebay are caused by miscommunication. Make sure you create a consistent set of rules, post them with every auction, and follow them to the letter. If you have any problems with a customer, you can point to the rules. At the very worst, they can disagree with your policy; however, they cannot disagree that they entered into a contract with you with fair access to your policies.

In addition to using rules, you should also send follow-up emails after your auction ends. You should thank the buyer for purchasing from you and make sure he knows how to complete payment and when he can expect his item in the mail.

Avoiding eBay Buying Pitfalls

Author: Nicky Pilkington

As with a real market, trading on eBay is not without its hassles and snags.

First of all, it should be duly noted that eBay is an online market/transaction facilitator. It merely becomes a means for the buyer and the seller to meet.

Because of its online nature, eBay's auction listing provides the buyers with a wide selection of goods. The buyers are also enabled to review the buyer through its feedback rating. This helps the buyer decide whether to pursue the trade or not.

The sellers on the other hand, benefit from a wider audience due to the popularity of eBay because eBay enables them to post easily, quickly, and extensively.

When eBay connects buyer and seller, the transactions truly begin...as well as the headaches.

Even with the automated nature of most of today's transactions, eBay is still built on the basic foundation of trading: trust.

A good deal of trust is involved in eBay trading. The buyer has to trust that the seller is listing a legitimate item, and that he or she will deliver that item when paid. The seller has to trust the buyer to pay fully and without any catches.

Here are some of the problems one may encounter while buying on eBay.

Seller does not deliver product This is the buyer's biggest fear. However, it is also one of the most common snags buyers encounter. Usually, when closing a deal, the seller will email purchase instructions to the buyer. This will most usually include instructions for payment. The seller will then promise to have the item delivered upon receipt of payment.

If the buyer, after fulfilling his or her part, does not receive the item within the agreed upon date, he or she should immediately try contacting the seller. If this proves to be fruitless, he or she should file a complaint with eBay for assistance regarding the matter.

Seller delivers a different/defective product Sometimes the trading is smooth. Everything goes according to schedule. However, upon receipt of the item, the buyer finds out that the item is significantly different from its description on eBay.

What should the buyer do about this?

Good communication between the buyer and seller usually brings about a speedy and satisfying end to any trading dispute. This should always be step one for disputes.

Seller cannot be contacted to close deal or for questioning Most disputes come about due to miscommunication between seller and buyer.

But if the seller can not be contacted, that presents a bigger problem for the buyer - especially if that person has already fulfilled payment of the item.

eBay may help in this regard by furnishing you with further information on the seller.

Hot Tips for Ebay Buyers

Author: Nicky Pilkington

Ebay is the world's greatest e-commerce site. With over 147 million registered users from all over the world, it's definitely here to stay. Whether you're a newbie Ebay buyer or already an aficionado, you could always make use of the following tips on buying on Ebay.

Know exactly what you're looking for.

There's no other better way to waste your time browsing on eBay than not knowing what you're actually looking for. If you're not only looking for a single item, it will be helpful to jot down a list of your ""searchable"" items.

Browse like a pro.

In EBay, items are sorted and placed in almost 26,000 categories. If you would like to hasten the searching process, it will help if you look for the same keyword in the titles and captions of the item listings found. Just tick the small box right under the search box on the results page of your first search then hit the search button again.

Make use of your options.

To narrow down the category you're searching in, click on the option box above the results, which is found on the right part of the screen. Then, you can choose whether you would like your results to be focused on ""lowest price"", ""highest price"", ""newly listed"" or ""ending first"".

Inspect on the item.

Checking on the authenticity of an item, especially if it's an antique or a memorabilia is a must. Do your homework by researching more, confirming its condition and not just relying on its photograph. Comparing it with similar items will also improve your chances of purchasing an item that's worth your dough.

Know your seller.

Your seller might be continents away from you. It would be a wise move on your part to check on your seller's credibility. Seeing his feedback rating is one way to accomplish this. It's a number that's followed by a star. Reading the item's description carefully may also help in ensuring that you won't get ripped off. The return policies, mode of payment, and postage costs must be noted well. Also, the ""ask seller a question"" option is not placed there just for any reason. Make the most out of it.

Be the Best Bidder.

If an item you value a lot is auctioned and you want to jump in, go stick to your maximum bid. Bidding higher without really analyzing the item's worth commonly happens. Better consider that since you're the one buying, you call the shots on where your money will go. Sniping services can also help in this endeavor.

I Bought My House over eBay

Author: Nicky Pilkington

The coupon strategy works well to promote sales of items on eBay. And just like its cardboard counterparts, the eBay coupon is fast, easy, and convenient to use.

Selling real estate over the internet may sound like an awkward idea. However, the mileage the real estate receives over such a widespread media like the internet is every realtor's dream.

Can eBay be used to market real estate? The answer is a resounding 'yes!'

eBay provides functionality that is clearly adaptable to the needs of a realtor. It provides a widespread medium of advertisement for the real estate. It is also an inexpensive method of advertising such.

The best thing about selling real estate on eBay is that it markets to the whole world, not just a local area. eBay makes the property available to more than 100 million potential buyers, including those from other countries. Visitors can browse through the property details 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - all without the realtor having to explain the details to every single prospect that drops by.

Advertising Your Real Estate on eBay When one has a house or other real estate to sell, he or she may list it for auction on the eBay Real Estate site which is found at http://www.pages.ebay.com/realestate/. If the realtor seeks to sell the estate at a fixed price instead of having the property go through an auction, he may request eBay to display a real estate listing in a format much like a local paper.

eBay's Real Estate page has three selling formats: there is the auction, fixed price selling, and the traditional real estate listing.

From here, the user furnishes additional information regarding his or her property. These details include lot size, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, type of property, year built, and others. One also furnishes the auction listing period. He may choose to run a 1-, 3-, 5-, 7-, 10-, or 30-day auction, or a 30- or 90-day non-auction listing.

eBay Real Estate charges fees for both listing and final values. Charges for a 1-, 3-, 5-, 7-, or 10-day auction listing is $100. 30-day auction listings cost $150. A non-auction listing costs $150 for 30-day listing, and $300 for a 90-day listing. Timeshares and land fees are slightly lower. The final value fee for timeshares and land is $35 while residential and commercial real estate have no fees. Selling real estate on eBay is growing popular as the internet stretches to more countries. Although nothing beats direct and personal inspection of a property, the convenience of having eBay connect seller and potential buyer is definitely appreciated.

The Day A Crook Tried To Defraud Me On Ebay

Author: Steve Hill

I have been reading lately about many cases of people, who are the victims of conmen on the internet auction website Ebay. I myself had a negative experience a number of years ago when a man tried to steal £170 from me. I was one of the lucky ones as I managed to get the money back.

I had been having lots of fun buying and selling on Ebay for a number of months, without any problems at all. I regularly sold second hand mobile phones and was making a fair amount of money for very little effort. If I ever bought anything that cost over £100, I would always meet the seller somewhere, normally just off the motorway. I managed to purchase what I felt were some real bargains and also sold off many items which I no longer needed or wanted.

This fun and easy way of earning cash was soon to come to an end. Maybe I am a bit of a fool, but it came as quite a shock when it happened.

On one particular day, I was scouring ebay, looking to purchase another second hand mobile phone, which I would then re-sell, hopefully for a profit. I eventually found an advert for a buy it now phone, with the asking price low but not extremely low. It was available for only £170, I believed I could quite easily make a profit of at least £50 at this price.

On the advert there was a mobile number, which I could phone if I had any questions. I duly did this and a man calling himself Tony answered. I asked him the general type questions, which he was happy to answer. He sounded and seemed really nice, however stated that he was unable to meet me as he was unable to drive, as he had yet to pass his driving test. The alarm bells should have started ringing, but for whatever reason, they didn't.

As his house was a long way from where I lived, I reluctantly agreed to pay via a bank transfer. He assured me he would post the phone that very day via Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive by noon the next day. He seemed very genuine, they always do your thinking and that was that.

As you will no doubt have guessed, no phone arrived the next day or in fact any day.

I tried contacting Tony via e-mail, text and by phoning his mobile phone, there was no reply.

I realised what a fool I had been, however decided to go to the police. They were very helpful and about half an hour later I had a crime number, however was warned that it was very unlikely I would ever see a phone or receive a refund of my money. The police advised me to be very careful as they regularly have complaints from people who have been defrauded on ebay, I was not alone!

Outside the police station I sent Tony a text with the police crime number. To my shock he phoned me straight away swearing at me but eventually agreed to refund me the money, if I stopped the police action against him.

I was very lucky, I am sure many other people as the police stated, never get their money back.

From Seller to Buyer: Shipping Details for eBay Auctions

Author: Nicky Pilkington

Shipping details for purchases over eBay is actually a misnomer. eBay is not responsible for the shipping details of an item.

First of all, it should be duly noted that eBay is an online market/transaction facilitator. It merely becomes a means for the buyer and the seller to meet. It is also a regulating body that helps develop fairness of trades among parties.

However, the terms and details of the trade are subject to the agreement of both buying and selling parties.

For most cases, the details of a trade - the payment modes, conditions, and shipping details are specified by the selling party. Taking note of, and understanding such is important to avoiding disputes over shipping details between buyer and seller.

If the buyer does not pay attention to the terms stated here, he may find himself on the losing end of a trade. He must, therefore, be vigilant in studying the terms before agreeing to a trade.

The buyer should also note that shipping is usually exclusive of the bid price he may have agreed to on the auction. He should weigh in the costs of shipping and handling when considering trades.

Sellers on the other hand should ensure that the mode of delivery he specifies is convenient, cost-efficient, and attractive to most buyers.

Buyers should review the shipping details for an item listing. He must specifically take note of insurance, shipping and handling charges, sales tax and return policy.

In the case of insurance, if the seller does not specify any details for such, the buyer should discuss the possibility of including one in the purchase. One walks on the safe side if he does not assume that all will go well on the delivery.

The buyer should also inquire about the return policy - the rights available to a buyer if desires to return an item for whatever reason may it be dissatisfaction, damage, etc.

Depending on the size of the item and its location, shipping costs can add significantly to the total cost of the item. The buyer should make sure the shipping details are clear and fair before agreeing to them.

The buyer should also take advantage of the safety mechanisms available to him. The buyer and seller should agree upon such and contact their shipping company of choice to request measures to address their delivery concerns.

Again, the key component to considering the shipping details of an item over eBay is good communication.

In the end, one could say that shipping plans over eBay items can be safe - as long as one takes great pains and meticulous methods to ensure a hassle free delivery.

The eBay Survival Guide

Author: Dave Bromley

When I was in the Armed Forces we were always being issued with ""Survival Guides"". How to survive in the Jungle, the Desert, and the Sea are just 3 titles that I remember. But if there is one environment that has been crying out for a survival guide it is eBay.

So I was intrigued when I got my hands on Michael Banks latest book ""The eBay Survival Guide"". I soon realised that it was a cut above many of the recent eBay books. As the webmaster for UK auctionline I comes across literally hundreds of books and reports about online auctions every year. I expected this would just be another expanded version of the eBay site map. But I was wrong; this book is an informative and riveting read.

It is a fact that it is possible to make a very good living selling products through eBay. However, it is equally true that if you either go about it in the wrong way or in some cases are just plain unlucky you can lose money. One of the biggest causes of this happening is the person not fully understanding how the market place works or knowing what to do if things go wrong. After reading the ""The eBay Survival Guide"" you should be much better equipped to tackle the day to day business of buying and selling on eBay.

One area that Michael covers in full detail is a subject that other books hardly mention and that is how to get the most out of the eBay search function. There are two detailed sections on buying and selling on eBay. The ""Do's and Don'ts chapters for both buyers and sellers not only show you the correct way to approach the task but also the traps to avoid.

The book is written in an easy to read no nonsense manner and you will find plenty of useful tips. One in particular that I liked was Michael's suggestion on how to react to a customer who claims that a sent item never arrived. To find out what it is you will have to buy the book.

There are two chapters that everyone who buys or sells on eBay should read. They are ""Shills, Sleazes and Seller Scams"" and ""Bogus products and Money making Scams"". Being forewarned is being forearmed and after reading these chapters you should be able to avoid the pitfalls that can trap the unwary.

The book covers a wide range of subjects including effective bidding strategies, buying stock to sell a dhow to create compelling listings. Whether you are new to online auction or an old hand this is one item you should definitely add to your eBay Library. This 260+ page paperback is published by No Starch and is available from Amazon.com for $13.57 (£7.99). And whether you are a new comer or an experienced eBayer I think you will find this book interesting.

Find Bargain Items On Ebay Easily And Conveniently

Author: Susan Dean

To find bargain items on ebay is certainly easy and convenient. You will find many different types of things being sold this way including computers, household accessories, autos, pictures, clothes, in fact just about everything and anything that your heart desires can be found this way, often at great discount prices.

All you need to do is take your time and have a look at what is on offer and if there is anything that takes your fancy then you just need to bid. That's right just bid. Most things advertised on ebay are up for auction. That is why it is easy to find bargain items on ebay.

Of course you do have to know your prices before you start to bid so you will know if you are getting an item for cheap or not. Bargains are only such if you get them at a reduced price. You will find that there are individuals who want to sell their used goods this way and then there are those who run businesses and sell their goods at below cost. Whatever you are after you will no doubt find it and at a great price to boot.

Then again you may not necessarily be looking for a bargain but looking for something that you may want as a collectors item and are willing to pay top dollar. If this is you then ebay is still a great option.

Of course not only can you find bargain items on ebay but you too can also make some money selling this way as well. You may have one item or many that you could sell. Think of how much easier and less time consuming this way of selling is. Why keep your home cluttered with things that you do not use anymore when you can sell them and use the money on something that is more worthwhile.

Insider Secrets of an eBay Millionaire - Reviewed

Author: Mary Hanna

""The Insiders Secrets of an eBay Millionaire"" is a thorough study of the techniques to making a generous living on eBay. Derek Gehl and Brandon Dupsky have teamed up to produce a detailed eBay success system on how to navigate eBay, find the right products, enjoy profitable online auctions and become a Power Seller. Every tip and trick that Brandon has used on eBay to generate 8 million dollars in sales last year, are revealed to Derek Gehl.

The only part that was difficult for me is the length of time it took to study and digest the material included. There is so much information you will probably have to revisit the books until they become second nature. Derek and Brandon's claim that you will be up and running on eBay in the next 24 hours is a little ambitious. Take your time and really let the information sink in.

Let me supply a little background on Derek and Brandon. You may have heard of Derek Gehl CEO of The Internet Marketing Center, a company with over 40 million dollars in internet sales. Brandon Dupsky on the other hand tends to fly under the radar. He is a regular guy from Nebraska that started selling a few odds and ends from his garage. Brandon then turned the internet business into one with sales last year of 8 million dollars. These two guys know what they're talking about. Derek convinced Brandon to spill his secrets on how to become an eBay entrepreneur and I found this a very enlightening learning experience.

This work is loaded with tips and tricks that anyone interested in eBay auctions as a hobby or a home business must have. It will show you how to start from nothing and expand into a profitable eBay business. Many people spend years learning what works and what doesn't work on eBay. Derek and Brandon have drastically reduced the timeline it takes to become an eBay success.

The course materials are vast. Their heart is a 237 page manual and four audio-CD's, all filled with useful tips on building an eBay business from scratch. Each audio-CD has a read along transcript with margin notes to build on key points. The margin notes are excellent since they highlight the most important topics that were addressed on each page. There are also four bonus CD-ROMs with tips on more advanced eBay buying selling techniques. These CD-ROMs answer the questions of how to attract lots of bids on your products, how to create stunning listings that bring bidders to your auction, and how to set up foolproof payment and shipping systems. These steps are crucial to establishing yourself successfully on eBay. If you already have an internet business, Derek and Brandon will show you how to tap into some of the 2,000,000 visitors who come to eBay each day.

""The Insiders Secrets of an eBay Millionaire"" delivers on its promise to teach you all of the fundamentals needed in order to grow into an eBay expert. It logically and easily takes you through the steps, from finding a product to completing an auction. This resource will be something that you refer to time after time and I suggest you take notes as you go along.

If anything, you may have to read all of the books again before you will be able to absorb the subtleties of using eBay profitably. Brandon and Derek go into so much detail that I was amazed at what they revealed.

In Derek's introduction, he tells you that you can't afford not to have this information and I totally agree with him. For me, this was the ultimate source to learn more about eBay and I am making the most of it.

Some people have asked me if there was some way to improve on this product and I can honestly say NO. I was astounded about the secrets that I learned from Brandon because I have been selling on eBay since 1999.

The only question I have is how Brandon manages his various weekly auctions. I would have preferred an in-depth study on how he accomplishes this very involved task.

If you are interested in growing an eBay business, this is the comprehensive course you should have. I give it my highest rating. For more information on this subject please visit: ebay-insidersecrets.com.

ebay and Buying Adsense Websites

Author: Tom Dean

You can get a good deal from purchasing an adsense website on ebay but...

* You should use some caution *

I have seeen the same exact design sold on ebay everyday of the week. You may get 30 or so of these sites bundled (different topics) for about $99. The 30 sites total 6,000 pages.

Similar sites are also sold daily (in multiple quantities) on ebay like ""Huge Adsense Empire - 100+ sites 16,500 Pages""

Imagine 150 of these sold and posted w/out change. 2,475,000 duplicate pages on the web.

Just look at the site for sell then check the sellers feedback from ""buyers"" - most are private listings. You will see that they may sell 1 to 3 per day!

Many new buyers purchase these and are unfamiliar with editing or adding content to a php site and get frustrated.

Now, there are some excellent sellers - sites and good deals to be found on ebay but you need to take a good look at the site and the number sold.

Also be sure the articles include the author's resource box with a live link. Many sites chop off the end of some of the articles or do not display the authors ""clickable"" link (a no no).

Check the ""page title"" at the top of your browser. A page titled ""New Page"" or ""Untitled"" is not a good sign.

Look at the source code by right clicking your mouse and choosing view source to see if there are any meta tags or keywords in the page header.

Don't confuse most of the ""ebay mill"" sites with sites you may see for sell that have limited numbers like 25 - are made with private or original articles & have support forums or excellent instructions.

These are Great for new users who need help and they provide a way to learn about the site.

The ebay mill sites typically are not in the same league.

Some of the better sites that are sold on ebay are in limited numbers and include an admin panel where you can easily add your own links - and your own content before and after each article page - giving you some uniqueness. Look for these even if they cost a little bit more

Not all ebay sites are an unwise purchase - I was a power seller a few years ago & sold websites - you can find a good deal and a good site.

Just do your research. With adsense the number two search term on ebay pulse under websites for sale, sellers have really jumped on the popularity of these sites.

eBay Listing Tips

Author: Jennifer Clason

Believe it or not, the success or failure of your eBay Store comes right down to your listing practices. Listing your items for sale seems like tedious work, however you must take your time and do it correctly to maximize your sales potential. By using these strategies, you will be able to get a larger audience to your eBay Auctions and the potential to gain more sales and higher ending bids!

Consider multiple auctions for spelling variations - If you have multiple quantities of the same items for sale, consider having two or more listings with different spelling variations of the product in the title. For instance you could either be selling ""tshirts"" or ""t-shirts"".

Include only keywords in your title - Never waste your space by including the words like ""LOOK"" or ""WOW"". No one searches for those terms and you are just using up space instead of your valuable search phrases. Make sure you keep your title using the major searchable keyword phrases only.

Include keywords in your description - A lot of people search by description too so make sure you repeat your keyword phrases in your description as well. However make it easily readable and not just a bunch of random words lumped together.

Include lots of details in your description - People want to know exactly what it is you have for sale. Include ""too much"" information just to be sure, otherwise you could lose a potential bid! Even things like dimensions, wattage, color, and details like that are very important! Don't make the seller chase you down by having to ask a question, it's very frustrating to them.

Learn to use HTML or an HTML editor - Listers who lump all of their text into one paragraph sell 30% less than people who break their paragraphs up and make it more readable. Also avoid using all capital letters and just make it all around easy on the eye.

Talk to your potential bidders as a friend - These people are bidding on an item from a total stranger. Don't talk to them with ""business talk"" in the description, talk as if you were chatting with a friend. It builds up trust.

Add color and graphics - Don't go overboard with too many things that takes the listing too long to load, but adding some color and graphics will enhance the listing and make it more appealing.

By using these very simple techniques, you will have a better eBay Auction. You will get more bids, thus driving your sales higher and you will have a higher chance of success in your eBay Auction Business!
