How To Make Money On eBay

Author: Joe Clare

Today, many people are choosing to work at home and make money selling on eBay. As you're reading right now thousands are making a full or part time income with online auctions. Why? Well, because the concept is simple, you can make money from home and you can have a lot of fun doing it. Of these people who choose to start an online auction business and make money from home, many will use dropshippers to get their business up and running. Then once they have products that are selling really well, they will look to locate these products at a better price. But where? Where does one find products at a better price? The answer is right here is this article.

You see, once you are comfortable with what you are doing, have run several regular auctions and have products that are popular and selling really well, it's then time to do some research on getting these products at a better price. This will allow you to offer these products to your customers at a better price and thus increase your auction sales which in turn will increase your auction profits. O.K. I can hear you asking ""But Joe, where do I get these products for a better price?""

The answer is Liquidators! As explained in my book, a Liquidation Company is a company that buys surplus, over runs, bankruptcies, going out of business inventory and the like. They purchase this merchandise for pennies on the dollar, and can afford to sell this merchandise at below wholesale prices and still make a profit. Therefore they sell for less and you reap the benefits.

There are many Liquidators who could have just what you're looking for. There are General Merchandise Liquidators who basically purchase and sell all sorts of general merchandise. At any given time you can find anything from housewares to kids toys. Collectables to clothing. Jewelry to cosmetics. All for a fraction of the price of dropshippers.

Then, there are Liquidators who specialize and only purchase and sell merchandise in a specific niche. This niche could be electronics, jewelry, brand name clothing and so on. Whatever the niche is, this will be the only type of inventory that Liquidator will carry. For example, a Liquidator who specializes in only kids toys would purchase products from toy stores or department stores with a kids toy section that are going out of business, declaring bankruptcy or have overstock. From that inventory, you can find some of the latest and most popular products on the market.

Liquidators are similar to Wholesalers and Dropshippers in that you will have to become a member to have access to their inventory. Most require no fee to become a member, while others may charge a nominal fee. The one thing that does differ is that Liquidators have a set number of units you must purchase in order to get a great price. A Liquidator will purchase their inventory in bulk enabling them to get the merchandise for pennies on the dollar. Therefore, they will want to sell the merchandise in cases or lots.

If you have done your due diligence, have ran several regular auctions and you know you have a Hot Product, then Liquidators are your answer to more auction profits. Remember that selling products is all about research. What products are Hot? How much can you sell the product for, and where can you get the product at the best price.

The Dangers Of Shopping On Ebay

Author: Steve Hill

Buying online at auction websites such as ebay is becoming ever more popular and there are some great bargains out there to take advantage of. There are however risks involved and in this article I am going to write about a bad experience a friend of mine went through, an experience which would cost him a lot of money.

I have used ebay many times in the past and have not only bought a great many items but have also sold a few. I have to say it is quite a buzz and is a great way of offloading some of the things that I no longer have a use for. I have even been surprised at the amounts of money some of these items have sold for.

During a recent evening out, I was discussing ebay with a friend of mine, his name is Ian. Ian has recently attempted to make money from online auctions and was hoping it would earn him a type of second income. He would buy a particular item at what he thought was quite a low price and would then re-list the same item a couple of weeks later, hoping he would make a tidy profit and some easy money.

One of his ways of attempting to pull off a good deal was by phoning or e-mailing the seller and offering them a price to close the auction early. In fairness to ebay this is something they strongly advise against and Ian is aware that he was taking a risk by doing this. In his first few transactions everything went well and all of the items arrived safely and in good condition. He eventually made what he called a small but worthwhile profit on most of the items. In his mind, the more he could buy and sell, the more he would make.

As no doubt you have gathered his luck was about to run out. He contacted via telephone, a seller of a camcorder. Ian offered a price which was duly accepted. The seller advised him where to post the money to and agreed to post the item via registered post. Ian then posted him the amount in cash, also registered post and then waited for the item to arrive. The camcorder did not arrive and Ian started to become slightly worried. He waited a number of days but still it had not been delivered. He contacted the seller who stated that he had posted it. Ian asked him for the registered postal number and to his horror and annoyance the seller stated that he had not sent it registered post, but had sent it first class.

Ian argued, that what they had agreed to, was that he would post the item via registered post due to its cost. The seller denied agreeing to this and put the phone down in disgust at being called a liar. Ian tried by e-mailing and phoning the seller to obtain a refund but the seller just kept saying that he had sent it, so he had no reason to pay him his money back. Ian will never know whether the camcorder was posted, however strongly believes it had not been.

Ian is aware that he had been a bit of a fool and had taken an undue risk. It is a lesson he has learnt from. There was no real comeback apart from possibly travelling two hundred miles to the address of the seller. Even if he had paid via paypal, he had bought the item outside of ebay, which again ebay advise you not to do.

In conclusion if you are going to purchase items on online auction websites such as ebay, use your head and do not let greed cloud your judgements. There are many people out there who are more than happy to take you for a ride and to con you out of your hard earned money. Follow the guidelines set and you are more likely to have a positive experience.

Ian now still uses ebay but not as a way to earn extra cash, he merely uses it for enjoyment. He can not quite believe what he did and actually believes that he deserved it. He realises that if it had not have happened when buying the camcorder that it would have happened eventually.

Getting Started on eBay - A Common Sense Approach

Author: Michael Saunders

You've probably heard about how much money can be made on eBay. With dreams of quick riches and easy money, you are probably ready to jump in with both feet - right now! The best thing you can do if you are serious about making money with eBay, however, is to chill out. Being successful on eBay takes as much planning and effort as operating a business in the 'real world.'

eBay has over 100 million members. Think about that number for just a minute or two. When you get your eBay business set up, that is how big your customer base will be - instantly. 100 million people - 100 million people who are just waiting for you to get set up and running so that they can throw money at you! As in most cases, beware the law of large numbers. It is true that the reach of eBay is incredible, but at this point, the market doesn't know that you exist. In fact, no matter how well you do on eBay, most of them will never know that you exist. 100 million is a very large number.

The most successful eBay sellers started out as buyers - and you should too. This will give you a sense of how everything works. It will also show you how things are from the buyer's side of the fence. Let's call this period of time 'consumer research.' You are literally studying how eBay works, from a customer's point of view. You may not realize this, but this eBay buyer experience will actually make you a much better seller - right from the very start.

Really pay attention to the customer service you receive from the seller. Think about how you want to be treated as a buyer, and take notes. Take your time during this process. Interact with the sellers. Get involved in hot auctions to see what they are like. In your spare time, start making notes about the hot items that you see. These notes will come in handy later.

eBay works just like any other business. You have to determine what people want to buy before you can hope to be successful. There are very specific items that sell really well on eBay - you just have to figure out what those items are. There are many resources for finding out this information. Start with the lessons that eBay offers to their sellers. Strongly consider attending the eBay University as well. This is the next step in the process. After you have had the eBay buyer experience, it is time to learn how to be an eBay seller.

Study all of the information eBay provides for you on its site. The information is free and you will learn a great deal from it and it provides a roadmap for success. By reading through all of the resources, you will avoid making numerous mistakes that so many before you have made. This is another step towards building a successful eBay business. Once you have made it through the learning process, you should know everything you need to know to get started with a money making eBay business of your very own.

Warning: Procrastination Can Seriously Damage Your eBay Wealth!

Author: Frank Lomax

None of us are perfect.

We all promise to do this or that and end up doing... nothing. Procrastination they call it and it is an affliction that we all suffer from.

But if you have a chronic case then beware, because it could seriously damage your eBay wealth!

This is especially true if you're the type of person that simply bursts with exciting ideas for new eBay projects. I'm sure you jot these down (or you should do!) but do you promptly act upon them? Or do they remain just paper promises?

If you fail to act, then procrastination can prevent you from making some useful extra revenue. By doing something you can at least receive some feedback (useful for any future project) even if your venture didn't do too well financially.

But before you're even given the chance to delay on your eBay brainwave, there's a very important decision that you need to make first. And that is:

Just what type of eBay business 'model' do you intend to launch anyway?

Sound confusing? Let me explain.

In essence there are only two business models that you can follow on eBay. The first is where you're trading in the same product over and over again. This could be just about anything but the product you sell remains basically the same. I'll call this the 'repeat sale' model.

The second system is where you're buying a unique item, say for example a rare piece of porcelain, and then reselling it for a decent profit. You then look for another interesting item to buy for eventual resale. And the process goes on. For convenience, I'll call this the 'one sale' system.

So from the outset, you have to decide which model you wish to concentrate on because there are advantages and disadvantages to each. And depending upon your circumstances, one system may suit you more than the other. The right choice can mean a greater monetary return for your efforts as well as increased 'job satisfaction.'

A closer look at each business model will hopefully help you focus on your activity and maximise your returns. So let's consider each one, beginning with the 'one sale' system.

This is the ideal part-time route to eBay success. You can easily devote just some evenings and weekends to building a very profitable business. And you can quickly establish a loyal customer base that will buy from you again and again.

But there's also a negative side to this type of trading.

Your income will be variable and your efforts are essentially time dependent. Also, knowledge of your market will be vital, as you will be seeking products to resell profitably on a consistent basis. But if you have an interest in your niche market then this may not be such a hardship. Personally, I enjoy the thrill of the chase, hunting down an interesting item to resell.

Another consideration is that your earnings will probably be 'pegged' at a certain level because of the time factor. And because you're basically a 'one-man band' it will be difficult to grow really big. But then you may not want that anyway, preferring just to make a steady, reasonable extra income.

Okay, let's now consider the 'repeat sale' method.

This second approach involves the purchase of stock and then selling your items over and over again. Like the first system, the 'repeat sale' has its good and bad points.

One advantage is that you can easily build a bigger business. Also, once you've established a good source of supply for your stock you are then just listing, selling and relisting again.

Are there any disadvantages?

Price-based competition will be your main hurdle. And if there's an established market for your item then that competition is likely to be fierce. Also, your return per item will probably be lower but you're likely to sell more and at a greater rate.

So which method should you choose?

Well, this is entirely your choice based upon your available free time and your long-term eBay goals. Only you have a full understanding of your situation.

But if you're short on time, want to make some quick money and just see yourself as a part-time eBayer then the 'one sale' model is a good starting point. Alternatively, if you already have some eBay experience and can devote more time to trading then the second model should provide you with an exciting challenge. There are no hard and fast rules here. It is purely a matter of personal choice.

One steady way to make progress, without undue financial risk, would be to start off on a 'one sale' basis, make some money and gradually build up your capital base. After awhile, you could then launch other eBay ventures. All the time you will be gaining experience, increasing your working capital and becoming a seasoned eBay player.

You could of course run the two business models side by side. It can be accomplished but you need the time. There would be a lot of work involved but it is possible. However, if you're a beginner then this route is not recommended. If you're just starting out on eBay then you need to walk before you can run!

But if you could manage this 'double' approach then you would create two separate income streams. This means in effect that you are spreading your risks. You would create two separate supply sources, customer base, e-mail contacts etc.

If one of your ventures wavered then you would always have the other to cushion any financial blow. It all makes good sense if you have the time and resources. In this instance, you would be advised to trade under separate ID's for each of your trading models. This would avoid confusion especially if you're trading in very different items (e.g. antique dolls and auto parts)

This information should help you to assess the approach that is right for you. It might now be time to make some major adjustments to ensure that you get the maximum return from all your eBay activity.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your trading and keep it profitable!

Are you Losing eBay sales? Follow these Ten Commandments

Author: Paul Hudson

eBay has created a revolution in online trading, selling products and services is now feasible for everyone. Even many successful businesses, including mine are using eBay to promote their products and services and drive traffic to their site.

Here are my top ten tips for successful selling on eBay.

Step 1: Identify your market

Watch some auctions and determine what is selling and what is not. You will soon find a few items than consistently sell for a good price. Find the right product/service and establish your price.

Step 2: Watch the competition

If there is a particular trader that consistently sells their items for a good price then take a look at there ads. What are they doing that the others are not. Consider their titles, layout of the ad and the text and images that they use.

Step 3: Find a product

Having found your product, call as many suppliers as you can and try to beat them down on price. Remember ordering in bulk will normally secure a lower price but don't tie up too much capital in stock. Make sure that you make a decent margin, find something that you can sell for a lot more than you paid for it. This may seem obvious but a lot of people waste their time making pennies so it is worth reiterating, the bigger your margins are the less you have to worry.

Step 4: Start small

Don't throw money at bad ideas. Start playing around with different ad text and images. It doesn't cost a lot with eBay to try the most outrageous ideas, some will work and some won't. Best still you will know the results of your trials very quickly.

Step 5: Test and repeat

Once you have found a strategy that works keep doing it! But also keep testing new ideas the more strong sales strategies that your find the more reliable you sales will be.

Step 6: Work out a business plan

This doesn't have to be a professional document, just an outline of the market that you have broken into and possible opportunities. Identify your strategies that work and the items that are selling. Work out based on your current ROI (Return on Investment) what sort of budget you are prepared to risk. Remember with budgets it is all about risk assessment: what is the risk of losing everything weighed against the likely returns.

Step 7: Invest and expand

Introduce your money, investment means profit. Start buying inventory, but not more than you can sell in a reasonable amount of time. The last thing you want is unsold stock lying around because that is tied up capital that could be used for marketing. Make sure you get the lowest price possible. Buy in bulk and try to catch the supplier at opportune times such as the end of the month when they may be looking for the extra sales. Also try buying at the end of the day when they just want to get home and may be inclined to just close the deal. As you establish a relationship with your suppliers, secure further discounts on account of your continued custom and increasing quantities.

Step 8: Make it official

Once you have made a thousand pounds or so in sales, get your self registered as a business. Build a website and link your ads to the site. Visitors can then find out more about you and importantly find more of your products and services. Start to advertise in different places, on and offline, after all you should know what sells now and should be an expert of marketing your products and services.

Step 9: Automate

Create auto responders for emails to save you answering the same questions and to give quick responses to customers. This is the time to give up on the manual method and turn to automated software that can create listings for you, and respond to completed auctions and payments with whatever message you provide.

Step 10: Never give up

It is not just skill or knowledge that enables people to succeed. There are loads of skillful and knowledgeable people that are not working for them self; it is perseverance that wins the day. When it looks like it is all going wrong, chances are you are about to make a break through and when someone says it can't be done, you know that you are getting closer!

If you really are trying to build a successful company, then go for it and work hard.

Good luck!

Ebook Review: The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay!!!

Author: Tom Parker

EBOOK DETAILS File Size: 1,709kb Zipped, 2,383kb Unzipped.

Number of Pages: 136 Format: Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)

Subject: A guide to using eBay traffic to create ""Silent Sales Machines."" Other Information: Can be bought with Jim Cockrum's other ebook ""How to turn Auction Traffic Cash"" as a discounted, package deal.

ABOUT JIM COCKRUM (AUTHOR OF THE SILENT SALES MACHINE) The author Jim Cockrum, is a self confessed eBay freak. He also runs ""Creative Ebay Selling,"" the internets largest eBay success newsletter with over 90,000 subscribers and growing by the day. Jim has helped launch multiple internet businesses and has used the internet as his sole source of income since 2002.

ABOUT THE EBOOK

The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay is a guide on how to gaining massively from the huge levels of eBay traffic. eBay gets 1.5 billion page views per month, there are over 100 million members, and 80,000 people sign up every day, so it is one of the best but also most underutilised sources of traffic available to any seller. The topics covered include: · How to earn Money!! · How to gain a customer for life. · One of Jim's Silent Sales Machines dissected!! · How to utilise your About Me page effectively!! · How to get traffic to your Silent Sales Machine!! · Improving your Silent Sales Machine!! · How to utilise all the above on eBay whilst sticking to eBay policy!!

On top of the main content Jim has also included huge amounts of bonus content with his ebook. This includes ""What should I sell on eBay"" which is a collection of thousands of creative ideas submitted by Jim's newsletter subscribers, and ""Power Tips for eBay Sellers"" which is a collection of useful tips for eBay sellers plus four bonus articles.

The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay is definitely aimed at those who are currently limited to selling solely on eBay. If you are in this situation then it is most likely that you view your business activities as ""If I sell one item on eBay I get one buyer and one sale"" (I know I was). Jim however, says that ""One auction can potentially bring you hundreds of buyers before, during, and after the sale WITHOUT violating eBay policy."" He then expands on this by dissecting one of his Silent Sales Machines to show you how he did it, and then providing many more creative ideas that you could possibly use to set up your own Silent Sales Machine using this principle. Implementing the ideas in The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay can provide you with multiple benefits and hugely expand your business. However, the only problem is that if you have only been selling on eBay, then you will probably have to do quite a lot of research into setting up your own website, affiliate marketing, and ways in which you can create Silent Sales Machines that fit your current product. If you can put in the time and effort then the ideas in the Silent Sales Machine are definitely worthwhile. If not you're probably best off leaving this one on the shelf.

GOOD POINTS · If you are currently only selling on eBay, The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay lays wide open the huge opportunities you are missing out on, by not looking at the bigger picture. · The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay provides you with methods that will direct the huge amounts of traffic on eBay, to your product outside of eBay, whilst sticking to eBay policy. · The huge amount of creative ideas listed mean you should be able to think of a Silent Sales Machine that you can run alongside your current product and seriously increase your sales. · Setting up Silent Sales Machines balances the risk of your business. If your business on eBay is not doing so well this is weighed up against your business off eBay which may be doing better and vice versa. · Once set up, most Silent Sales Machines are virtually automated, providing you with a regular income for weeks, months, or even years to come.

BAD POINTS · A lot of time, effort, and research can be required initially to set up an effective Silent Sales Machine. · Although a website is not essential for some Silent Sales Machines, most of them do require one, which is an added expense. You may also need to acquire new skills (such as HTML programming) in order to set up your website. · You may have to become familiar with using affiliate programs in order to set up your Silent Sales Machine. · The benefits gained from setting up a Silent Sales Machine are slightly over-exaggerated in this ebook.

HOW I HAVE GAINED FROM THE SILENT SALES MACHINE HIDING ON EBAY

The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay is the ebook that convinced me to finally get a website. Prior to this I simply thought; ""I have an eBay store with its own URL and that's enough."" However, once set up I quickly realised the benefits I had been missing out on by not having a website. Not only could I use it to promote my eBay store, and use my eBay store to promote my website, but taking this first step led me to look at even more ways of setting up Silent Sales Machines outside of eBay. I now firmly believe that everyone who sells on eBay should set up their own website. This is for a variety of reasons but definitely the largest being ""Spreading the Risk."" I know it is unlikely, and won't happen in the near future, but what if eBay goes out of business? Without a website you would go out of business too.

How To Make Big Money On eBay Selling Other People's Stuff

Author: Tim Knox

Since eBay launched the Trading Assistant program last year, over 50,000 eBay sellers have registered as Trading Assistants to help other people sell their goods on eBay.

As a result, eBay consignment businesses have sprung up all over the United States and are now starting to appear in Germany and the UK.

Consider this:

There are 35 million users on eBay's US site and 50 million users of eBay's international sites and that number grows every day. Even with those numbers, there are still millions of people who know very little about eBay or are afraid to try it.

There are millions more who know about eBay, but just don't have the time or inclination to sell items themselves.

Hundreds of people in your very own neighborhood have tons of things lying around the house that would sell on eBay, but they don't have the time or know-how to get them listed and sold. This means opportunity for you.

Time To Start Your Own eBay Consignment Business

As we've discussed many times before, the biggest problem eBay sellers have is finding merchandise at a low enough price to sell on eBay.

With an eBay Consignment Business, people give you merchandise to sell with no risk on your part. You auction the goods on eBay and pay the consignor (the person who gave you the goods) the proceeds of the sale less your commission and fees.

If something doesn't sell, you simply return the item to the consignor.

If you can find people to consign goods to you, then you have created an unstoppable money machine.

How Much Can You Earn?

eBay consignment professionals charge fees ranging from 10% on very high priced items up to 40% on consignment items that sell for less than a few hundred dollars.

One business in the San Francisco Bay area charges 40% and is successfully closing hundreds of auctions per week. Another business in Florida has been so successful they are franchising their system for $15,000. Done correctly, this business has no risk and low start-up costs, yet can produce thousand of dollars of income per year for you and your family. If you are interested in starting your own eBay Consignment Business I highly recommend that you learn how to do it right.

You don't want to wing it or learn as you go because that will cost you time, money, and countless mistakes.

Here's the only resource I recommend for starting an eBay Consignment Business:

""How To Start & Run an eBay Consignment Business"" by eBay Expert, Trainer, and Powerseller Skip McGrath.

http://www.auction-sellers-resource.com/cgi-bin/at.cgi?a=313276&e =products/consignment.shtml>Learn More Now Skip has been selling on eBay almost since day one and is a member of ""The eBay Elite,"" an organization representing the top 500 sellers on eBay.

""How To Start & Run an eBay Consignment Business"" will teach you the correct way to start and run what Skip calls, ""the perfect eBay business.""

""How To Start & Run an eBay Consignment Business"" is not an e- Book or a CD.

It is a 200 page, three-pound, step-by-step, printed instruction manual that is delivered to your door bound in a custom binder and contains everything you need to start and run a professional eBay consignment business.

Skip not only shows you the steps to start your business, he also provides all the sales and contract materials you will need to get started.

Skip includes pre-written classified ads, posters and flyers, blank forms to record inventory and calculate fees and the all- important consignment contract.

Skip has even created a CD with all the documents, blank forms, advertising posters and sales letters in Microsoft Word files, so you can customize them with your information and print them out.

http://www.auction-sellers-resource.com/cgi-bin/at.cgi?a=313276&e =products/consignment.shtml>Learn More Now Once you start your business, ""How to Start & Run An eBay Consignment Business will show you how to grow it into a full- time enterprise that can make thousands of dollars per year.

A properly written consignment agreement (contract) is critical to the success of your business and Skip has spent a substantial sum of money in legal fees to construct the perfect consignment agreement. This agreement is included with your purchase of the manual.

The consignment agreement alone is worth more than the cost of the manual. It would cost you several hundred dollars in legal fees just to create a basic agreement.

Skip is also known for putting his money where his mouth is.

That's why ""How to Start & Run An eBay Consignment Business"" comes with a 90-day, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, ironclad money-back guarantee.

Skip will refund not only the cost of the book, but your shipping charge as well. That's an unheard of guarantee.

How I Sell Name Brand Children's Clothing On Ebay

Author: Robyn A. Johnson

How I sell Children's Clothing on Ebay Robyn Johnson www.themomscafe.net I have really learned ALOT in my short time selling on Ebay. I don't claim to be an expert, but after less than one year, I am now a Power Seller, and I have over 100 items selling in my store, Dragonflies and Ladybugs. These are some of my tips and tricks that I have learned along the way. I hope that I can help you like so many of you have helped me!!!! . 1. Research, research, research!!!! It is really important that you research the items that you are interested in selling. This tells you a lot! What is hot and what is not. What items are going for, what people are buying, and whether or not the market you are interested in is already saturated with sellers. Ebay has new features that allow you to look into the past at what items have ended at. You can also learn how to be competitive with your fellow sellers. 2. Join Paypal. If you have not already, it is a ""MUST"" to sign up with a paypal account in order to sell on Ebay. It is a really safe way to do business. I was leery at first, but now I am very comfortable with doing business this way. BE CAREFUL: do not answer any e-mail that appear to come from Paypal. I did this and it was a ""spoof"" e-mail. If you are unsure whether or not an e-mail is legitimately from Paypal or Ebay, sign into the site through your server, not through the email, or contact support and ask. 3. Invest in a Decent Digital Camera: Most of you may already have a digital camera, but if you do not, there are a lot out there for a reasonable price. I have a Kodak Easyshare CX7300. This is not an expensive camera, but you should have at least 3.1 Megapixels in order to produce halfway decent photos. A picture is worth a thousand words. I know that I will not even look at an auction if the picture is of poor quality. 4. Take Good Photos: This brings me to my next important tip, take the time to take good photo's. First, you should purchase a white and black poster board. This provides you with a good background for your items. You really should not take your photo's on your bed, carpet, or table. It looks more professional to have a clean and non-distracting background for your items. Posterboard looks the best, a white sheet would work too, just make sure it is pressed. I have made that mistake, and some of my pictures do not look as good as they should. Finally, make sure you take the pictures in the right kind of lighting, they will look better to your potential buyers. 5. Honesty is the BEST Policy: Set up a clear, concise, and honest description. If your item has even a tiny flaw, make sure to notate it in your auction. This will save you the hassle of an unsatisfied customer on the receiving end. Also, I learned that what may seem like ""Excellent Condition"" to you, may not be the case for others. Be careful when listing something used as LIKE NEW or in Excellent Condition. I consider an item to be in Excellent condition when it has never been washed or washed and worn maybe one time. Other than that, I would describe used items as Good Used Condition or Lovingly worn. I try not to sell anything that would be considered fair or less than good. 6. Use Professional Auction Tools: You should invest time researching some of the auction listing tools that are on the internet. I have provided you with a lot of resources on my Sell on Ebay page that will give you the tools to produce a professional looking auction. I highly recommend The Sellers Sourcebook and Auction Insights. 7. Join Ebay Selling Forums: Ebay gives you a lot of selling tools and allows you to join in on a variety of community forums and classes. Take advantage of these resources, other, more experienced sellers can be of help. Some forums that I recommend using to advertise your auctions and search for other auction sellers are: 1. Coupon Chix 2. Once Upon a Life 3. Here Comes The Stork 4. WAHMS United 5. Just Between Moms 8. Selling Times and Dates: When you list your auctions is equally as important as everything else. I learned early on that on what day and time I listed my auctions had an impact on my sales volume. I found that starting my listings on Monday and Thursday evenings had the best results. This may not work for your items, so you will need to experiment a little with this. In addition to your listing days and times, the seasons for selling is also important. This is especially true when you are selling clothing and gifts. Here are some GENERAL seasonal Guidelines for you to follow when putting up your listings: · January-March: Get your spring and summer clothing items up and running. Easter is approaching, so any cute dresses and Easter outfits will sell well at this time. If you sell wholesale lots, I would recommend saving your summer outfits for the buyers to get their hands on. · April-June: Still sell Summer items, break out the 4th of July items, but start to run SALES (shipping sales are always a winner!!!), because you want to clear out your inventory to make room for Fall/Winter clothing. · June-September: I would start putting up your fall outfits and Back To School items. People start gearing up for this time of year. June and July are typically slower months due to vacations, and people already have obtained their summer items earlier in the year. · September-October: Put your Fall/Winter Clothing up for sale, give shipping discounts, etc. Start listing Halloween Costumes in September, and start listing alternate items like toys, games, dvd's, etc. in November for Christmas. 9. How To Buy NWT Gymboree Clothing: It is really hard to purchase a large volume of NWT clothing, and I can personally vouch for this, because I have made ALOT of mistakes this past year, and I have lost a lot of $ in the process. These are my recommendations gained from my own mistakes, but you can create your own method for obtaining your inventory. · I applied for a Gymboree Visa Card, which allows you to get 5% off all of your Gymboree purchases, even during sales, apply online anytime. · Join mailing lists, like Gymboree's Circle of Friends. They will email you all the sales prior to, and they will email you online coupon codes, which can save you a bundle. · Buy sale items only, get your 5% discount, and buy when they are offering Gymbucks! This way, you can shop again, getting more inventory for your buck!!!! Just think that if you have $50 in Gymbucks, you can get $100 in inventory for only $50, this is 1/2 off. And, if you only shop the sale rack, then you will DEFINATELY save more!!! · Finally, if you must buy lots online, here are some sellers that I recommend: 1. Special Delivery 2. Dragonflies and Ladybugs 3. K and Bs Closet 4. Here Comes The Stork 5. Gymboree Goddess

These sellers put GOOD quality lots together for reasonable prices, and they usually offer either FREE shipping or a shipping discount. I have bought from a lot of other seller (s), whom I will not mention here, that don't put fair lots together, they give you a lot of duplicates, unsellable sizes, and single pieces which are harder to sell seperately. What you want to look for are the quality and prime selling sizes: 12-24 months, 2T, and 3T, some 4T. Anything under 6 months and over 4T are Harder to sell. You would like to have outfits and dresses. Items like shorts, tops and leggings that don't match can be harder to generate a profit. You would like one or two Boys outfits and no more!!! Unfortunately, boys clothing is not as popular as girls clothing. Although it is cute, it is harder to move in your store. If the seller puts boys clothing in your lot, request that they give you a full outfit, if they allow it. Also, no seller should include socks, hats, or hairbands in the RV of their lot, if they do, don't buy from them!!!!! 10. Hidden Treasures: Believe it or not, my best money making items have been my Used and Gently worn Name brand clothing. You can find a lot of ""gems"" in thrift stores and local garage sales. You would not believe what people donate. I have found Oilily, Hannah Anderson, Gymboree, Janie and Jack, and Baby Lulu at Thrift Stores and Garage sales, paying only pennies and selling for over $20. Which comes out to a huge profit for you!!!! Some highly recommended thrift stores are:

1. Goodwill 2. Savers 3. Salvation Army 4. American Thrift Store I would recommend going through your Yellow Pages, finding all your local thrift stores and hitting them all on a monthly basis. Remember, thrift store inventory changes daily and weekly, so you have to be diligent and patient. You must go frequently and search for these hidden treasures. 11. Auction Listing Write Up: It is very important that you take the time to write up a clear and concise auction listing. Make sure to include as much information as you can about your item, and most of all, be HONEST. It is better to list all the flaws than to try to ""mask"" them. I have a ""fool proof""

eBay Success - Pricing Your Items Effectively

Author: Michael Saunders

Numerous new sellers don't realize the importance of pricing when it comes to eBay auctions. Some new sellers don't even realize that 'pricing' needs tobe done. eBay is an auction site after all!

But eBay auctions are not quite the same as the auctions you attend in the offline world. In fact, quite a bit of thought should go into determining and setting your prices.

Essentially, there are only three prices that can be set for an eBay auction: the 'buy it now' price, the reserve price, and the starting bid price. Of these three, the starting bid price is the only one that is required for an eBay auction. The reserve price and the 'buy it now' price are optional. The starting bid price is somewhat easy - never set it to more than $50 or so - no matter what your item is really worth. This low starting price will get bidders to your auction.

Setting low opening bid prices creates the need for a reserve price. A reserve price is the absolute lowest price that you want to get for your item. You may sell the item below the reserve price, but you will not be required to. In other words, if you set your reserve price at $100, and your highest bid is only $50, you do not have to sell the item to the highest bidder. You can close the auction without any negative feedback or repercussions. Set your reserve price at the absolute lowest price you are willing to sell your item for. Keep what the item is worth, as well as what it cost you in mind.

The 'buy it now' option will allow you to set a price, and buyers can buy the item immediately, without bidding, for that set price. This option can be used for any type of item, and it should be set to match your reserve, give or take a few dollars. This option is ideal if you have multiple identical items to sell.

Shipping has a price, and potential buyers take this into consideration when they are looking at an auction. If you can see your way clear to offer free shipping, you will find that people are placing more bids. Make sure that your potential buyers realize that you are offering free shipping!

Before setting any prices, you need to determine what the item is really worth. The value of the item in different markets might be quite high. However, you are selling on eBay, and it is a different world altogether! Find out the price that similar items sold for on eBay before setting any prices. If it is a collectable, or a high ticket item, have the item evaluated to ensure that you aren't going to lose money!

How Your Business Can Take Advantage Of eBay

Author: Ryan Cameron

Recently online auction websites such as eBay have been on the hearts and minds of many business owners. Why so you ask? Simply put, there are millions of online auctions taking place as we speak. And you can bet your bottom dollar that many eBay sellers are raking in the dough.

Most smart business owners are taking their talents of selling to the largest auction website in the world. eBay has been at the forefront of the online auction industry since it first appeared in 1995. It is not going anyway in the near future, so why not take advantage of what it can do for your business.

Below are a number of important ways your business can benefit from selling merchandise on eBay.

1. You Can Road Test Price Points For Your Inventory

A very easy and effective way to test new and existing product prices is to scout out what people on eBay and other auction websites bid for your items. Once you have tested a few different auction sites, calculate the average selling price and that will give you a fair idea about the potential sale price of your product.

2. Sell Off Your Excess And Discontinued Stock

Another way to benefit from eBay is to put up for sale all your excess and discontinued stock. Remember there is certainly no point in leaving your unsold inventory sitting around gathering dust. Instead, why not sell your overstock on eBay and try and recoup your financial losses. Who knows, you may even bring in a tidy profit as a result.

3. Find Business Supplies For Below Retail Costs

There is no better place online then eBay when it comes to finding business supplies for below retail costs. This doesn't occur with every item your business may need. However, if you're in the market for a new computer, for example, you may want to browse over to eBay and see what's on offer. More than likely you will discover a bargain or two.

4. Sell Your Own Products On eBay

Some of the bigger auction sites like eBay draw over a million hits a day. With this in mind, there is no greater place to sell your own products. Setup an eBay store and watch your bids sky-rocket.

5. Setup For Own Auction Website

Yet another interesting idea you may like to try is to start up your own auction website. It doesn't have to be a huge one like eBay. You could simply add your own items to an auction-style website of your own. This would be a great idea for existing business websites, you can add an auction page on your mainpage. You can also offer to sell other people's items for a small fee.

With the increasing popularity of websites such as eBay it has never easier to sell with online auctions. So if you're looking to get your business online, then eBay is a great place to start.

So there is plenty of time to get to that stage. Never cut corners and operate on the cheap you are out to gain custom not lose it. Financial gains should be reinvested back into your business. This is how an Ebay seller will run his/her successful business.

When it comes down to promotional activities and advertising of your product/service you are sure of sales if done tastefully. Your product has to be described in the best descriptive way. Give your prospective customer a run down on every little detail on what you are selling this will make a huge impact on getting those sales. Be friendly in your approach when dealing with potential buyers as you are looking for repeat orders. Try to simplify all correspondence like payment methods or even offer to help them if they are new and not sure of how things are done after winning an auction. How to use Ebooks and Ebay to build your mailing list

Author: Bill Boyd

Part 1: How to make money from affiliate ebooks without selling them

Part 2: How to use ebooks and ebay to build your mailing list

Part 3: How to use ebooks to drive more visitors to your site

In this section we'll look at a very easy to use and cost effective method of getting laser targeted prospects on your mailing list.

First, let's quickly re-cap part one; we learned there that we don't need to make money from the initial sale of the ebook in order to profit from the ebook. Keep this in mind as we go through the following dialogue.

ebay is a site that facilitates bringing buyers and sellers together in a secure and safe environment, in order to buy and sell a variety of goods and services, either through action or in a fixed price format.

The preferred payment system used there is Paypal. Paypal is an extremely user friendly and highly secure service for transferring money over the internet.

Here's what we do:

1. List the ebook under several different categories, choose categories that have a specific connection to the topic and some that are more loosely connected. For example an ebook about Internet Marketing could be listed under the category of; books/internet information products/marketing; this would be a direct connection. A loosely connected category might be something like; Everything Else/Education & Learning/Adult & Career Education/Personal Development/Personal Finances. An easy way to find suitable categories is to use the search categories option as you are listing; it gives you recommendations that you can choose from.

2. We also need to play around with the Heading, using different headings for all of our listings, we should try to include the words and phrases that people will use when searching most often, and include them in the heading.

3. List the ebook as a 10 day auction and offer a 'buy now' option as well. Be sure to set the 'buy now' price at level that covers our fees if we wish to make this a free advertising campaign.

4. We need to create a html formatted sales letter. Do this by creating a page in html composer such as Mozilla or coffee cup, or any other composer. Outline all the details about the book and what's in it etc. then at the end of the description add an Auto responder! That the customers can use to ask for more information about the product. We must ensure that the redirect page brings the customer back to ebay. This is vital because ebay has very strict policies regarding links that take people away from their site.

5. Now we can play around with the sales letter to make it more enticing for people to enter their details, some of the things we could use are; for a free report, to receive other offers and updates, for more information and the free edition, etc. we just need to become creative here.

6. If our ebook sells without getting any prospects, that's great we have covered our costs and distributed our links. (see part one of this series) We can go ahead and re-list it, then start all over again!

That's all there is to it! It doesn't take long to set up and once in place, we can easily tweak the listings and continue this strategy. It's not limited only to ebay it's also possible to use any of the other auction sites available online today.

eBay Motors Car Selling Tips

Author: Larry Scott

Most folks aren't getting the best value when selling their used cars simply because they don't know any better!

The single most important element in selling your car is marketing it correctly. You want to portray your car in the best possible light so that online buyers know what it is that they're buying.

Think of your car as a fashion model. Would you photograph that model with a backdrop of power lines in an alley and other junk, or would you position her out on the beach with the picturesque ocean in the background? Would you do close-up photographs of a new pimple on her chin, or would you zoom in on her eyes instead?

The goal is to make your customer feel like he knows what the car is truly like. To do that you must take at least 60 photos in specific areas.

Now that I have you thinking about it, here are some things to consider: Prepare your car Wash and wax your car Thoroughly clean windows and wheels Degrease the engine compartment Throw out any junk inside Vacuum out the interior Clean any stains from the carpets and seats Clean out the trunk

Stage your car for its photo shoot Move the car into an open area (an enclosed garage makes for junky pictures). A park or school parking lot can work but it is better to find a pleasant background as you compose your marketing pictures, Make sure there are no other vehicles in the background so that the focus is entirely on what you are selling and not on the noise in the background. Double check to make sure there is nothing junky in the background of your shot - garbage dumpsters, bikes, power lines, etc.

Shoot crisp, properly lighted digital photos (All you need is about 72 dpi resolution. Any more resolution results in much larger image files and offers nothing for the online buyers.) When shooting problem areas, like rust or dents, make sure you include a non-rusted area in the shot. Watch the lighting! Make sure your shot is full of light so that you aren't shooting shadows. If you can't get light then move the car, get artificial lights or wait for a brighter time of day. The number of shots you take will be determined by the type of vehicle you are selling. For example, a 2-seater requires fewer shots than an SUV simply because there are less doors and seats. Manually turn on your camera's flash system so that the light backfills dark areas. This is crucial when shooting the engine compartment and undercarriage. When taking your shots, make sure you fill the frame of the photograph so that it is mostly a picture of your car. Your focus is on the car, so don't take any of those long distance shots where you can't make out much detail.

The Money Shots - the number in parentheses shows about how many photos to take for a 2-seater. (4) Shoot all four corners at 45 degree angles to the car. Shooting downward from a ladder or chair gives your pictures a unique viewpoint and also lets you eliminate much of the background ""noise"". (10) Crouch down and shoot 5 pictures across the front starting at a 45 degree corner shot, then straight on corner, then middle, then other straight corner and other 45 degree corner shots. Repeat for the rear. (4) Shoot wheels (2) Shoot down length of car to show body straightness on each side (6) Shoot engine compartment from all angles (2) Shoot trunk straight on and from 45 degree angle (3) Rear seat compartment. (3) Dashboard. Straight on from driver seat, middle and passenger seat. (6) Open door. Shoot the hinge, door jamb and the door sill for each door. (2) Shoot the door panels with the doors open. (4) Open the doors and shoot the front seats. (2) Console. (2) Pedals and floor wear areas. (5) Undercarriage. Shoot exhaust, brakes and frame.

How to make money on ebay

How to make money on ebay

That's the question that everyone seems to be asking lately. How to make money on ebay. Well, this article will hopefully answer that question for you. I will tell you how to find hot selling items for you to trade and some of my tips for you to make as much money as you can on ebay.

The first thing to do is to find out what the hottest selling items on ebay are. There are a few steps to take when doing this. Sit down with a pen and paper and write down a list of all the products you think would be good sellers. Write down as many as you like but I would suggest at least twenty. The more you have then the more chance there is of finding a really hot seller. When you have your list, you should go to ebay and search to see how many people are selling the items on your list and how much feedback they have. Do this for every item on your list and see which ones are being sold by the most sellers, then take a look and see if the sellers have got a lot of feedback as this would indicate that they have sold a lot of items. As you are searching for the hot sellers on ebay, you should be noticing which items are getting bids. If an item has a lot of bids then it shows that people are interested in it.

Narrow down the list to about five items. With your five products, do a search on ebay for each one but this time tick the completed listings box on the left hand side and this will show exactly how many of each item has sold and for how much. By now you should have a very good idea of which items are hot sellers on ebay. If you are unsure just research into this deeper and for longer until you are sure.

Now that you have a good selling product. You should look into getting yourself some inventory. There are many wholesalers and drop shippers on the net, simply search google until you find one that you are happy with and that can supply you with the product you need to sell to make money on ebay.

When you have your stock you should understand that it's not just as easy as getting items and putting them up for auction. You have to promote your auctions with every chance you get. Here are a few tips to help you make money on ebay.

Write articles on a topic relevant to your items. Write good quality information and submit it to article directories. Doing this should drive targeted visitors to your auctions as you can include a link to them in your resource box. However, you should write good quality articles and offer people good advice with every article you submit.

List a few lower priced, but also good selling, items as this will bring in visitors to your higher priced auctions on ebay. If you link to your items through the lower priced auctions you should get some extra visitors.

When you are just starting out selling on ebay, you should list quite a lot of items as you will want to build your feedback up and try to get power seller status. When you have a good amount of feedback you will see an increase in sales and when you become a power seller you should see another increase in sales.

Start a free blog . In your blog you can record your progress and give readers good information. This will help you in a few ways as recording your progress will help you keep track of how well you are doing, posting good, original information to your blog will result in more visitors from the search engines and you can link to your auctions from your blog therefore generating visitors to your ebay auctions and hopefully sales.

Can you Really Make Any Money on eBay ?

Author: Frank Lomax

eBay is now a prime market place for selling just about anything online from antique buttons to sexy photographs of your girlfriend. And if there's a demand for your item then it will probably sell. You should then make a nice profit and be encouraged by your success.

But can you always make money on eBay? Is it as easy as we're all led to believe?

Well, common sense tells us that it all depends on what you're selling, the competition and the market for your product.

After all, eBay is essentially an online market place that brings together international buyers and sellers to do business and the basic economic law of supply and demand applies.

So what basic factors should we consider before we start to sell on eBay? Can virtually anything sell and make us a handsome profit?

The answer must be a definite 'No' - especially if the profit motive is important. And it must be, because we don't want to waste our time just breaking even or - dread the thought - making a loss.

But, for example, if you've really got your heart set on selling nineteenth century sweet wrappers on eBay because it's you're passion in life - you've already been divorced twice because of your obsession - then you just need to stop and think for a minute.

And before you rush out and invest £500 in a gold plated, digital camera, hand crafted by Balinese maidens, just because you know it will produce the finest quality images of your antique wrappers, it might be wise to first consider the following essential factors.

...is there likely to be a healthy demand for your product? Is it something people need or want to buy - hopefully on a regular, repeat basis?

...is the potential market big enough so as to make a decent profit (say a 'minimum' of 40% mark up on cost) and can that profit be sustainable?

...are there others already selling the same item? If so can you compete on a price basis or offer something different to justify a higher price?

and finally

...can you maintain a reliable supplier of your item so that you can consistently buy at the 'right price' and sell at a profit?

So what I'm saying really here is that before you dive into the eBay ocean make sure you've got your swimming costume on!

Or, to put it simply, before you decide what you want to do, or what niche you want to concentrate on, you need to be fully aware of whether it's even possible to do it at a profit.

So the basic message is: Don't let your enthusiasm or obsession for a particular market blind you to the basic economics of what you're doing. After some careful consideration, you may have to totally 'rethink' your plans and abandon your previous, cherished, pet ideas. If it's not going to pay then you don't really want to do it.

But sometimes you will never know unless you try and you shouldn't be afraid of trying to sell something totally different. However, always make use of eBay's 'feedback' feature as a useful research tool. And what I mean by that is studying the feedback of existing sellers in your general and particular area of interest.

You can quickly discover what volume of sales they are achieving; what their average selling price is; which country they are operating from (this can be important for some products); how long they have been trading etc.

All this information can help you get an overall 'feel' for that market and you can then test out your idea with some confidence based on facts rather than a personal, well intentioned 'gut' feeling.

And if you find that someone else is already selling what you had in mind then this isn't necessarily bad news. Maybe you can offer the same product cheaper ( but try to avoid a 'price war' if you can), or promote it in a different way or sell it with some other product as a free bonus. Try to think creatively and 'outside the box' to make yourself different.

If you discover that you're the only seller dealing in a particular item then perhaps it just can't be done profitably. Maybe someone has already tried it and abandoned the venture as a waste of time. Or, conversely, you may have discovered a unique and hopefully profitable niche!

Another vital consideration is your view of just how much income you want to make from eBay trading.

Do you see it a just a part-time, weekend affair or as a full time career alternative? If you're aiming high then what you intend to sell is very important.

Would there be enough 'in' the antique sweet wrapper market for you to reach, say, your £50,000 profit target? Probably not, you must be the judge, but you might easily achieve that figure dealing in more high ticket items.

So, in conclusion, you need to be absolutely sure of two things.

The first is to ask yourself if your market is financially viable. Are you going to make any money?

And, secondly, if you believe that money can be made then does the amount compare favourably with your income goals.

The answer to these essential factors should determine your activity. You may have to take some tough decisions but in the end you will benefit financially and develop a successful and fulfilling eBay business.

Ebay Selling Secrets - Live And Learn While You Give And Earn

Author: Maisy Day

Now that you have finalized your decision on making Ebay your primary business venture then you need to take one step at a time. The best way to do this is by selling your products and services part time while gathering valuable information on the selling secrets which will help in becoming successful.

Learning the tricks of the trade can take time but worthwhile and profitable. Familiarising yourself with Ebay selling secrets will get you off to a great start. To start your business all you need is access to the internet and wares to sell, if at this stage you have no product then an Ebay selling secret is to rummage through your own items that are of no use to you but may be well sort after by buyers. Check garage sales/car boots for bargains which can sell on through Ebay.

Number one Ebay selling secret is research - the more information under your belt will make your venture more understanding on the nuts and bolts on how to conduct a business like Ebay. A forensic search behind the scenes of how others have become successful is another fine way of learning. When choosing what product to sell - study carefully to see if there is a market for it. Check for popularity with a keyword search. Remember a picture paints a thousand words - photos is an important part in your auction. By providing snapshots you guarantee a boost in sales. Potential buyers take more interest in pictures thus increasing the chance of a sale all because the customer has just got a bigger picture (excuse the pun) of what it is you are selling. Photos are another selling secret from the Ebay system - just remember the quality of the photos is crucial when selling.

Crucial elements needed to make a success of your business is your choice of keywords and description. It is without doubt a vital Ebay selling secret to use apt keywords. Be precise in your description right down to the last detail. By giving an accurate description on the product can save any heartache that could arise from a disappointed customer a little later down the line. Always make sure your item is listed in the right category otherwise your item may never be found. This is just another Ebay selling secret which has proven to be a success because sellers have categorized accordingly.

Payment methods should not be complicated, make it easy and simplify any process of money transactions or exchange. Pay Pal is by far the safest and most highly rated way of dealing with the buying and selling procedure. Beware of bogus bidders who want to drain you of your hard earned cash. Just be cautious in situations that you are uncomfortable with - this will help ensure you no loss to your business.

It is an Ebay selling secret to time well with your listings at auction. Do some research on this because of different zones etc? Take advantage of the options available to write an About Me Page letting people know about you. The more they know of you then they warm to you and your product. By doing this you have enforced an essential Ebay selling secret.

Receiving positive feedback builds up your credibility - potential buyers will see this and can make there own judgement from there - most will see you as an honest vendor. Get the figures right when supplying information on Postage and shipping costs.

Promotion and advertising can result in financial losses if not done correctly. A no go is not to put reserve limitations or buy it now into your listings. Most auction participants love the bidding process. Gather as much inside information on the techniques behind Ebay`s selling secrets to start you off on the right footing. Wisdom prevails so learn by others mistakes not your own as this can be costly.

They say you LIVE and LEARN but in your case you are going to GIVE and EARN.

How To Profit Using eBay's Saved Search Feature

Author: Tim Knox

Did you know that eBay will help you locate products you can buy cheap, then flip for a quick profit? No? Then listen up, because I am about to let you in on a little known feature of eBay that can literally stuff wads of cash in your wallet in less than 24 hours.

This is an eBay tool that I use every day to locate products that I can buy and resell or buy cheap and keep for myself and my family. And the great news is you can use it, too.

What is it? It's eBay's Saved Search feature and you can use it to start making money tomorrow. The Saved Search feature that will let you set up a saved search criteria and eBay will let you know when an auction that matches your search criteria has been posted.

Let's say you're on the lookout for a Pete Rose card to complete your collection. You could troll eBay every day on your own and to see if anyone has listed such a card or you can set up a saved search and make your life a lot easier.

Here's how it works....

Got to eBay.com and sign into your account. If you do not have an eBay account all you need to do is set up a free buyer's account.

After you're logged in, type in your search criteria into a search window. For this example we will type in Pete Rose. Click submit and you will get a page of search results that match your search criteria.

At the top right of the search results listing you will see a link labeled ""Add To Favorites."" Click the link.

On the next page you will see ""Create a new search"" or ""Replace an existing search.""

If this is a new search select the ""Create a new search"" button, give this search a name (the search term you used will be in the Search Name box by default, in this case ""Pete Rose"").

You can select to receive a daily email if there are new items listed that match your search criteria.

Click ""Save Search.""

Now you will receive an email every morning with new items that have been listed that match your saved search criteria.

If the search term Pete Rose is too broad you will receive notifications for every auction that has the term ""Pete Rose"" in the title or description. You can always narrow the saved search by adding ""Pete Rose Card"" or something more specific. Just don't get too specific or you may miss items that you'd be interested in.

How can you use the saved feature to make money on eBay?

Easy, you set a saved search to let you know when something has been listed for sale that you might buy and sell for a higher profit. For example that Pete Rose card might have been listed by someone who is willing to sell it cheap or doesn't know its real value. You could buy the card, make them happy, then sell it for a higher price yourself. This is how commerce works, folks. You buy cheap, you sell high.

Let's look at another example. Let's say you have an eBay shop that sells designer shoes. Naturally you would want to know when someone else lists designer shoes for sale because they may be a competitor you need to monitor or just an individual who has a closet full of designer shoes to sell cheap.

You set up a saved search with the keyword ""designer shoes.""

Each time an auction is posted with the term ""designer shoes"" in the title or description, eBay will let you know.

You can immediately check out the auction and if the shoes can be scarfed up and sold for a higher profit, you made money.

I think you would be amazed at how many Powersellers are using this secret TODAY to find merchandise they can buy and flip on eBay.

You should do the same.

Ebay Business - Longer Bidding Time The Bigger The Bank Balance

Author: Maisy Day

Is this your first business venture - if so you must be excited just at the fact of being your own boss with no 9 to 5 job - that is if your Ebay business is going to demand your full time attention to keep the pennies coming in? No doubt you will have questions due to you being in the infancy stage of running your own Ebay business. Your best approach at this time is to study behind the scenes. You can do this on the Ebay site it self. Every thing you need to know is at hand to help you become a success with your Ebay business.

Treat this business like that of any other e.g. like setting up shop because that is exactly what Ebay is the largest online shopping market where people trade there wares. Computer and internet access is all that is needed to start up and of course a product or service. Ebay is risk free. What are your chances in succeeding with your Ebay business - well sheer determination and commitment is a couple of important factors needed for success as an Ebay seller. Don`t try and re-invent the wheel. Follow Ebay`s guidelines and a good chance you will excel.

If money is an issue when starting up - then consider selling bric and brac from jumbles sales or car boots. Remember this is your Ebay business so what you sell is entirely up to you; just be sure to research your product to see if there is a demand for it. Consider shopping wholesale from Ebay itself - personalize the items. This could take a bit of time but well worth it if a sale is in the pipeline.

Tell your friends of your Ebay business - they can help by donating items that you can put to good use. Friends can be useful at times like this in assisting you with paperwork till you get to know the ropes.

Once you have established in your mind what your Ebay business is all about and what wares to sell then it is time to open shop. You have a queue of hungry buyers so now it is time to let them know of you and your product. Promote your product with good quality snapshots- this will give your customer a clearer picture of what they are buying. How you word your description on your listing can increase the possibility of more interest from other shoppers. In the Ebay business pricing items can cause problems - if you are not sure why not go into the forums and ask other sellers for advice. Be reasonable and fair with the prices and you may well get a lot more interest and custom from your window shoppers.

When listing your item make sure you follow the guided instructions and all should go smoothly. Options are available for how long you want you`re listing to run on the Ebay auction, this once again is up to you - the longer the bids are allowed to continue at auction then the bigger bank balance. Organize yourself properly in how you deal with payment methods and shipping. Take note that the popular way that most transactions are finalized on Ebay is through PayPal Wisdom is the greatest guideline you could ever uphold.

Set-up Your eBay Business to Succeed

Author: Brent Shields

Many people do make good money with their eBay businesses. You can be one of those people if you take the right steps at the beginning to set up your business. You should approach an eBay business like any other. Do the necessary research first. Don't rush into it with dreams of making a quick fortune.

Take your time and familiarize yourself with the eBay website. Take notes of the type of products you are thinking of selling - check out the competition, pricing and most of all take particular note of actual selling prices and whether the bidding was slow or fast and furious.

There are literally millions (somewhere in the region of 100 million) of eBay members, but this does not mean you are going to reach anywhere near that number. They won't even know you exist unless you prepare your strategy first.

You'll find that a large number of successful eBay sellers have started off as buyers. This is a good idea as you can get a feel for how the whole system works, plus you will know what buyers are looking for and what problems you are likely to encounter. Being a buyer will certainly help you become a proficient seller as you will understand the system from both sides of the fence.

A few things to take note of while you are learning from the buyer's point of view:

* the customer service you received * the accuracy of the description of the selling item * the ease and speed of finalizing the transaction * whether communication was good or not * was the sales page well set out * were delivery costs fair and reasonable

If you approach an eBay business like any other online business you will have a much better chance of making a good income. The following points should give you an idea of what you should be thinking about.

1. Decide whether you will set up an eBay Store

Whilst checking out the eBay website, you would have noticed a number of sellers have their own eBay Store. The advantages of this are many and you would be wise to check out the details of setting up your own eBay Store. Information is readily available on the eBay site.

2. Setting up your own Website

For many reasons, it is advisable to have your own independent website. Look at it as your ""Head Office"" with your eBay store as a subsidiary. If at some time in the future you decide to discontinue your eBay store, you will still have your business website.

Another good reason for setting up a website is that it gives you the ability to diversify your business. This can mean the difference between success and failure. It will also give you the ability to build a subscriber list that will be beneficial for both your eBay business and your own website business.

3. What Products are in high demand?

Take particular note of products that sell well and what the competition is. Also check the availability of the products as well as the cost. Armed with this information you can determine whether or not a product is a viable proposition.

4. eBay Learning Center and University

Before you think of buying tutorials on eBay trading, check out the resources provided by eBay.

The Learning Center will provide you with tutorials and guides relative to the different areas of eBay. In addition, you will find many free resources on the internet in the form of reports, tutorials and e-books. So have a good look around before paying for this type of information. Of course if you do purchase training products they will more than likely be a taxable deduction.

The eBay University runs offline and online courses covering every aspect of an eBay business. This is where you can learn tried and true methods from the experts.

Running your own eBay business can be a rewarding experience. To ensure you succeed, research your market and your product before undertaking your first Auction.

Remember you will receive queries from prospective bidders, so you must be extremely knowledgeable about your product.

How To Ensure You Get Bidders For Your Ebay Auctions

Author: KB Lim

I remember when I first started selling on ebay 5 years ago, I did not get any bids at all on my first 8 ebay auctions. Regardless of what others may say about people making tons of money selling on ebay or people making a full-time income on ebay, I could not sell a single item.

Fast forward to today, I have managed to get a 90 percent closing rate on my auctions. That means out of 10 items I auctioned, 9 will get bids. It took me a long time to realize the mistakes I made and gradually over the years, I learned and tested which auctions will get bids and which doesn't.

There are too many reasons why auctions don't get bids. I won't be able to cover them all at once. But I will list the top 3 big reasons.

1. Not all categories are created the same.

Do you know some categories have high closing rates as much as 90 percent while others can have as low as 30 percent? This means some auctions in certain categories have a 90 percent chance of getting a bid while other categories may only have a 30 percent chance.

How do I know this? Through research. The single biggest mistake most newbie sellers on ebay make is not doing research. Why is research important? Because only then can you determine what's selling hot and in demand and what's not. You can determine how much an item which you may be thinking of selling is being sold. You can determine when and what period of the year a particular item is being sold like hot cakes.

The best part is this research information is right on ebay. Ebay Pulse is a good place to start however it does not provide enough information. If you are treating ebay as a full-time business, I recommend using ebay marketplace research where you can get more in-depth statistics and analysis. They have 3 different plans, Fast Pass, Basic and Pro with each higher plan more expensive.

2. Be Specific

There are usually thousands of auctions in any given categories. Some of the general categories can have tens of thousands of auctions running. Most visitors do not browse more than 2 pages of auctions when buying. Most visitors use the ebay search tool to find what they are interested. Therefore, it is important your auction title needs to be as specific as possible. Why?

Let me give you an example. Suppose I'm looking to buy a DVD player. Let's say I am interested in Sony DVD player model SG-1038. What I would do and most buyers do would be to type in ""sony dvd player SG-1038"" in the ebay search tool. Therefore, if your auction title has any of the words I entered, your auction will be shown.

Now the important point is this. When visitors type a specific model, less auctions are shown from the search results and those auctions have a greater chance of being checked out by the visitor. Reason being it is exactly what the visitor is looking for. Your auction description also has to provide as much specific information as possible.

3. Pricing

One rule to remember, never start your opening bid at $50 or more. The reason is what I termed as ""burnoff"". It means your auctions scars off potential buyers even before they click on that link to check out the description. If you can't sell below a certain price, set a reserve price instead.

Last piece of advise, do not charge too much for shipping. Customers are not dumb. Plus ebay has a shipping calculator which let buyers calculate the estimated cost. If you charge too much for shipping, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

Selling Ebooks & Other Digital Goods on eBay

Author: Niki Rodino

The sale of ebooks on eBay is a large market and it is a venture that can be filled with great opportunity and success for the seller, as well as the buyer. The great thing about ebooks is that many of them come with Master Resell Rights. What does this mean and how can it help the buyer and reseller?

Master Resell Rights are granted by the publisher of an ebook (or other digital product) to the sellers of their product. In turn, the buyer can turn around and sell it to other ebook buyers, keeping 100% of the profits they generate from their sales. No commissions or royalties need to be paid to the original publisher. (Please note that the copyright remains the property of the original publisher. Copyrights are not transferred, just the right to distribute the products.)

So, everyone profits from these Master Resell Rights.

Digital products, like ebooks, are easy to sell. Here are some examples why selling ebooks can be to your benefit:

1. Oftentimes, the publisher of the ebook provides cover graphics and a sales letter in web page format so that you can easily customize it with your own information and upload it to your own server for people to download after purchase.

2. No trips are required to the post office if you send via internet only. Some sellers opt to burn the ebooks onto a CD and mail it out via snail mail to their buyers. (By doing it this way, the seller rakes in more profits by charging for Shipping & Handling.) It is important to note at this point that if you are selling ebooks delivered via internet download on eBay that it is AGAINST eBay rules to charge Shipping and Handling for this transaction. Many ebook sellers charge S&H anyway, but I find it is best to follow all of eBay's rules. Keeping your nose clean is the best way to develop your reputation on eBay.

3. Selling digital products is not that time consuming. In the beginning, the set up is a bit time consuming, as the seller must upload all their ebooks to their server, as well as customize the sales letters and create eBay listings for the eproducts. When you have most of your digital deliveries on autopilot, you can spend a few hours a day developing your relationships with your buyers and potential buyers. By this, I mean following up on items purchased, developing new digital products for your buyers, and marketing your e-products on the internet as well as other sources.

eBay's new Digital Delivery System has really simplified and broadened the ability to sell digital goods on eBay. Although it does have its drawbacks, I find that it is really the best way to get your product to your buyer. To learn more about eBay's Digital Delivery System, please consult this informational area provided by eBay:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/selling-digital-items.html

With this new ability to provide the download location immediately to eBay buyers, sellers are able to free up much of their time because it cuts down on manually sending emails. When the download URL is made readily available to the buyer, you do not have to worry about the buyers' email spam filters or even their correct email address. As soon as the PayPal payment is processed, the location is disclosed on their receipt. In addition, buyers can access the download location again at any time by doing the following:

1. Sign in to the eBay account name under which the item was purchased. 2. Go to ""My eBay."" 3. View the ""Items I've Won."" 4. Select the item and view the ad listing again. 5. Click on the hyperlink provided: ""View digital delivery information for this item.""

eBay's Digital Delivery System does have some drawbacks of which you may want to be aware:

1. You must qualify to sell digital goods according to eBay's seller requirements as described in the hyperlink above.

2. The buyers MUST use PayPal and MUST pay immediately. No money orders, checks, or echecks!

3. Each digital item must be purchased individually, so invoices cannot be combined. This means the seller must pay the credit card processing fee for each transaction.

4. Digital goods can no longer be sold in Auction format. You are forced to use only Fixed Price or Buy it Now. In addition, you are restricted to list the item in only certain categories.

To amass a large selection of ebooks is pretty easy, they are all over the internet. Each ebook has its own terms of use and distribution rights that you will want to investigate and try to follow.

To sell ready-made ebooks, you will not need to know much about copyright law. However, if you create your own ebooks, you may want to read up on copyright law and make sure that if you quote or use an extensive amount of someone else's text that you know how to give proper credit for this, or if you need to give credit at all.

Now, on to the competition. Many people ask me about the nature of ebooks with Master Resell Rights. ""Aren't you just feeding your competition, since they will be selling the same exact thing?"" Yes, most definitely you will be. And that is what you want to do. There are reasons for this, and they all have to do with branding, affiliate programs, advertising, and joint ventures, among other things.

Major idea to keep in mind: Ebooks are considered ""viral"" marketing tools, because they spread like wildfire.

The ebook market is big enough for all of us. What a seller brings to the market is what makes this a wonderful industry to be a part of. Each seller and ebook publisher is different. Each has a different niche, a different sales perspective, varying philosophies, and a different level of experience. It is best to see each ebook seller as a partner rather than competition. If you view them in this way, you will profit from your relationships much more than if you try to sabotage or bring them down.

It's all about helping one another to make some extra money. :)

So, keep offering new, quality products in subjects people are interested in and present them well. Equip your buyers with things they will need to sell these products. Develop relationships with other serious ebook sellers.

Unfortunately, as in every industry, there exists scam artists and those who do not deliver on their claims, or try to deceive you into thinking you will make zillions of dollars from just selling ebooks. Selling ebooks is work and one must put time into researching the market, and the best ways to get your products to your buyers. This is another reason why you should develop relationships with other ebook sellers. They can help you immensely in overcoming obstacles that are common in the business.

I spend hours and hours on this every day. Not every ebook seller needs to do this. I am just the type of person who is always looking to grow and expand my business. You CAN make money on selling ebooks, even as a nice little side income. Like everything else in life, what you get out of it is what you put into it. :-)

And, to be fair, there are some downsides to selling ebooks you should be aware of.

1. You will have to spend money before you earn money. Invest in a quality web hosting service and buy an inventory of newer and operational ebooks. If you are interested in creating your own ebooks, you may want to invest in a digital ebook compiler of some sort (to make PDFs and/or executable files) and graphics templates.

2. Ebay's rules can be confusing, but try to follow them to the best of your understanding and ability.

3. You must keep track of your ebooks. Once you start collecting them, I recommend creating various folders on your hard drive to house your ebooks in a system that you will be able to revisit again easily. Perhaps by resell rights permissions, then by topic, for example. Whatever works best for you.

Please keep in mind, I do not claim to be an ebook expert. I learn something new about ebooks every day. But I have been selling ebooks on eBay since early 2005, and have gained some knowledge on the business, especially how to do it in the eBay environment.

I hope this guide has helped you and has provided you with some insight into the every day world of selling ebooks on eBay.
